Bush the Elder - CIA Insider - in the swamp
Bob Dole - Republican Lite - in the swamp
Bush the Younger -Son of CIA insider - son of swamp
John McCain - Democrat for all intents - Swamp
Mitt Romeny - Deocrat for all intents - swamp
Donald Trump - whatever you think of him, not a democrat, not part of the swamp.
What chance have we had as conservatives apart from Trump. All before him paid lip service to the border, but were OK with illegal immigaration, they all let China run amuck stealing intellectual property and becoming a threat, all supported bigger spending.
WTF - I don't know who we'll get in 2024, but we must learn from previous mistakes. Even if Dole, McCain and Romeny had won - the country would not have shifted to the right - only the justifications for the BS would have changed.
We need a Trump like person, if not Trump. I'm ok with Desantis, but should someone else rise from the pack, we need to check their true record, not their rhetoric. What have they done to push forward a conservative agenda?

Bob Dole - Republican Lite - in the swamp
Link not working on here, but type in dole 1996 website on google, you'll find it
quote:
America is a nation of immigrants, and Bob Dole believes that America must continue to be a land of opportunity for those who enter the nation legally, work hard, and sacrifice to achieve a better life for themselves and their children.
However, Bob Dole does not believe that immigrants who have entered the United States illegally should be entitled to government welfare services and other benefits. Bob Dole supports strengthening the Border Patrol and streamlining the deportation process for illegal aliens.
quote:
Nearly 300,000 illegal aliens enter the United States each year -- a flood of undocumented immigrants who sap precious American tax dollars and undermine the nation's security.

I have no personal gripe with Bob Dole, he was a war hero and suffered a life changing injury for his service. But he was in Congress for decades. Sorry, we need to boot all politicians with term limits. If you live in shite 24-7, you smell like it. Bob was part of the swamp, he grew, thrived and suceeded in the swamp - by CO-OPERATING with their agenda. Like I said, don't judge by their rhetoric, judge by their record.
We need a non politician like Donald Trump. I supported Herman Caine back in his day. Desantis - he's a politician, but he's not a DC politician, so I still have hopes he'll be Trump like should he get elected.
We need a President with clear eyes, a sharp mind, a vision for America and stron voice to make it happen. Trump called the BS with NATO, with the border, with China. THAT is why he is popular. Biden gets payments from China (and he's mentally incapacitated), and that's why we're screwed.
GET IT?

Reagan wasn’t the establishment’s choice for candidate in the 1980 election. It was supposed to be George H.W. Bush.

Yes, but you see - you're an idiot. Interesting you chose to rebut the one thing that can be objectively proved (making my first point) and did not debate NATO, the border or China.

Unfortunately you can't go by what they have done when they are a plant. It sucks. Establishment seems to financially support DeSantis. I will stick with the most known commodity.
Despite Trumps support for the vax, even with that he is still the best president in the last 70 years, without question.

I agree. However, the Desantis or no one cult is probably about to bombard this thread.

Didn’t matter. Establishment got what it wanted
Proxy wars all over the world, failed war on drugs all the while importing cocaine into the US causing crack epidemic, Fauci fricking up on AIDS, partial amnesty, more globalism/ cooperation with China
Also Trump was literally a Democrat 20 years ago and his platform is not very far off from Bill Clinton’s

The bitter irony is that the fate of Trump’s previous administration and his greatest liability as a 2024 candidate is that he allowed the most tenured swamp creature in American history to call shots for the federal government in a time of international crisis.

Hes beyond popular. Ia it true what you offered up to Rubio if it meant Trump lost?

Why not include Reagan? He was a big government global police war monger. About as far from what people on here say they like about trump as you can get.

Dole was a uni-party swamper. He was a lifelong politician. He built his fortune as a politician.
His wife was a lifelong swamper. She "served" as FTC commissioner, Secretary of Transportation, Secretary of Labor, and a senator.
The OP's point is well made. you just have to open your eyes.
