I certainly hope Rep. Gowdy has the ambition to hold a much higher public office than the one he holds now. I think that someone with his tenacity and attention to detail would be an absolute nightmare for an opponent of his to debate in a public forum.

yes, he would be an excellent match in a debate but the thing is debates don't really matter.

Did anyone, if they didn't know who Mr. Cole was already, immediately think he was part of the mafia while watching that video?

What is unnerving to me is how Cole seemed completely unaffected under scrutiny.

That's because he knew the answer to every question was gonna be "No Comment".

He knew Holder isn't going to really do anything and that no matter how bad he looked he's protected either way.

For more reasons than one.
Saw a good opinion piece recently about the IRS commissioner when he was testifying that the computers crashed. Much like when Tony Soprano says he's in Waste management, the intent of the lie is not to conceal what they're doing. It's to flaunt it. They don't care that we know they're lying. They're daring Congress to do something about it.

I had heard somewhere that testimony before Congress in not under oath; is that true? Like there is some form of legal nitpicking that does not expose those testifying to perjury charges if caught in a lie...errr...'misstatement'.

Deputy AG Cole has a "tell" - one that future questioners might want to observe while trying to determine when to keep asking questions, and when to use their time just "speechifying". Gowdy, Issa and Rep. Gosar all drew out that "tell" when Cole got a bit rattled by specific questions.

In the OP's link:

watch the period from the 2:50 mark through the 5:45 mark (8 minute video), when Gowdy is asking his toughest questions.

In this 1:19 clip featuring Gosar questioning Cole, watch the entire 1:19.

Finally, watch from 0:50 through 2:35 of this 4:31 Issa clip (all the rest is Issa rambling on without asking a question):

Pay attention only to Cole when answering.
