Jury selection going on right now

this is the trial of the officer who is heard saying "taser, taser, taser" but pulls her gun and shoots the man she was trying to tase

ETA: no Legal Bytes unfortunately so far... just Rekieta & Uncivil Law

Why go to trial? It's clear cut negligent homicide.

We need to know the extent to which the deceased was fricking around before he found out.

any trial date for the "bodyguard" of the "journalist" that were caught on film stalking the MAGA guy before confronting/antagonizing, then shooting one who had pushed the bodyguard away?

This sound a LOT like the Fruitvale Station case where the transit cop went for a taser and accidentally grabbed his gun instead.

The breakdown of that case covered a number of reasons why it happened, with one of the big deals being that a taser with a pistol grip shouldn’t have been issued since the cop couldn’t tell the difference between it and an actual pistol when reaching for it.

It should be the Ghislaine trial, but no cameras are allowed in the courtroom.

I'm curious what the defense is going to push in this case. The suspect was certainly acting like he needed more than a little hands on. Hard to say whether a gun was justified or not. But the fact she said "I thought I had my taser" on camera isn't good. In the end, she didn't shoot some college kid on his way to drop off canned goods at the local shelter. We didn't lose a real contributor to society.

The Fruitvale Station cop got an involuntary manslaughter conviction which, due to Cali law and time already served, meant he was eligible for release after roughly a year.

I read somewhere that Donte Wright’s estate has 3 civil cults filled against it.

Judge apparently told perspective jurors that the trial may not start until Dec. 8 (meaning like 8 days of jury selection)... and to not be surprised if the trial lasts all the way to Christmas Eve

defense attorney just told a perspective juror that Officer Potter will testify

not sure if that line is typical before not calling the defendant during the trial itself

She is definitely guilty or something and no longer needs to be a cop.

Negligent homicide sounds about right.
