Surprised that the teacher hasn’t been outed yet.

The teacher is a threat to law and order and should be fired immediately.

True. Anyone who had a hand in this needs to be barred from holding any positions within the state.

Carolina Journal

Leah said the assistant principal has so far refused to remove the infraction from her son’s record. The family is working with an attorney to remedy the situation so it doesn’t harm his future, and they expect more developments in the days ahead.

Teacher asks students to use a sentence that has the word alien in it.

Why would a teacher in 2024 even ask this question unless their intent was entrapment?

An official at Davidson County Schools said the district could not provide details on a student matter. The student handbook says that “schools may place restrictions on a student’s right to free speech when the speech is obscene, abusive, promoting illegal drug use, or is reasonably expected to cause a substantial disruption to the school day.”

The school determined the phrase was "offensive and disrespectful" to Hispanic students.

This warrants suspension?

I don't think it was offensive at all, but even if it was - so what? Does offending someone come with a 3-day suspension now?

To 16 year olds no less. Sounds like something you'd ask a 3rd grader to do

Is anyone going to tell these racists that not just Hispanics immigrate here?

Why are we so intent on protecting people who consciously broke the fricking law.

This is 100% either a set up by the teacher or the whole thing is made up. There's no normal situation in which a sixteen year old would be asked to use alien in a sentence in school.

Teacher clearly baited the students to use the phrase, then attacked the first kid to do so. Sue the fricking school.

I would own the school if they did that to my kid. This crap needs to stop. The Rockefeller vowed to destroy this country once they were told they couldn't create a monopoly on the oil and gas industry.

Leah McGhee’s son has a teacher who assigned vocabulary words during class last Tuesday, including the word ‘alien.’ McGhee says her son made an effort to understand the assignment and responded to his teacher, asking, “Like space aliens or illegal aliens without green cards?”

According to an email describing the incident, sent to local officials and shared with Carolina Journal, a young man in class took offense to his question and reportedly threatened to fight him, prompting the teacher to call in the assistant principal. Ultimately, his words were deemed by administrative staff to be offensive and disrespectful to classmates who are Hispanic

I hate to see a sixteen year old punished with a three day suspension for what is really a nothingburger.

What about the other kid who took offense and threatened to fight him?

FJB for opening the borders and allowing our country to be invaded.

Public school.

Sorry, you send your kids to the government school, you have to know that at some point you are going to encounter idiocy. If you stick your wang in a hornet's nest, it's no good crying when you get stung.

I can't feel too bad for you.

(Downvote if you have a low IQ).

The student handbook can say anything it wants, but it can't enforce an unconstitutional standard.
