Red state school suspends student for using the phrase illegal alien.

Teacher asks students to use a sentence that has the word alien in it.
Student asks if she means space alien or illegal alien that needs a green card.
No one complained but teacher, school suspends student.

Wait until the teacher reads the Immigration and Naturalization Act in the United States Code. She’ll really be triggered once she reads the laws that make it a crime for an alien to enter the country illegally.

Calling an illegal alien and illegal alien is not offensive, it's just a fact.
McGhee was suspended for three days after doing an assignment in English class.
The teacher told the class to say a sentence with the word "alien" in it. McGhee reportedly said: "Like space aliens or illegal aliens without green cards?"
The school determined the phrase was "offensive and disrespectful" to Hispanic students.
"I didn’t make a statement directed towards anyone; I asked a question," McGhee shot back.
"I wasn’t speaking of Hispanics because everyone from other countries needs green cards, and the term 'illegal alien' is an actual term that I hear on the news and can find in the dictionary."
His mother is now concerned that he won't be able to get into college.
"He is devastated and concerned that the racism label on his school record will harm his future goal of receiving a track scholarship," she said.

I'd wager the presence of so many Illegal aliens and the wide open borders are "offensive and disrespectful" to all of those who bothered with the time and expense to be legal naturalized citizens.
ETA: downvote for that "school" which is nothing but a liberal hive mind brain washing operation.

I hope the kid sues. I think this is a slam dunk First Amendment case.
The teacher and administrator should be required to copy Title 8 of the United States Code by hand as punishment.

I know first hand the fact of asking a similar question. In 1975 in the beginning of a new semester the civics teacher started with the curriculum we were to be studying and luckily for me it encompassed February’s black history month a a dike AA teacher which was still a new thing and we were a very racially charged school with rioting weekly. I had asked how I could switch classes because I didn’t want to deal with what was coming and was considered belligerent so I got one of those 3 day suspensions.

I like how they said it’s offensive to Hispanics, yet the student did not mention race or ethnicity at all. Yet we’re consistently told the right is racist.
