In the interim, yes .. then a special election would be held is my understanding.

Even if the required signautes are obtained, by the time all paperwork and administrative work is finished, his term will be over. It's a stupid waste of time and money.

The first election feasible would be March 20, 2020 and he'd be gone by April 1st.
-Qualifying for that begins on Jan. 20th. The proclamation for an election would have to come by that date.
-The Secretary of State would have 15 days to issue the proclamation after the count is certified, so the count would have to be certified by Jan 5th to make the qualifying date.
-After the petition with signatures is submitted, the SoS has 20 days to count the signatures and certify, so that puts the petitioners having to submit by Dec. 15th or so.
-Realistically, they're gonna need two weeks to do their own internal counts, so the collection process has to be completed by around Dec. 1st.
-Petitioners have 6 months from the date they're circulating a petition to turn in signatures, so we're in that window.

If they can get 20% of the registered voters in the state to sign that petition in the next 10 weeks, the March election is feasible.

If they can do it in the next 14 weeks, the April election is feasible.

The next available date after that is the November 2021 election and that would provide for the full 6 months to collect signatures.

Again they'd have to collect 20% of all registered voters in the state, so good fricking luck. Right off the bat, half of the registered voters ain't signing shite. They love the walleyed motherfricker. That's why recalling the governor is damn near impossible, not time. The whole process takes, at most a year and at least 3 months if you can magic the required signatures overnight.

I'll go on record and say that I'd be thrilled if I'm wrong that it's impossible. I'll be signing the petition.

ETA: Of course, this is assuming there are no legal challenges, which there would be. At that point, it's up to whether or not the judge is in the bag and puts it on his docket for yesterday or for Juvember 32nd.

Wrong, only need 20% to sign:

quote:

All signatures on recall petitions must be handwritten. The petition shall be signed by 40 percent of the qualified electors within the voting area where less than 1,000 qualified electors reside in the voting area; 33 and 1/3 percent of the qualified electors of the voting area where 1,000 to 24,999 qualified electors reside in the voting area; 25 percent of the qualified electors of the voting area where 25,000 to 99,999 qualified electors reside in the voting area; or 20 percent of the qualified electors of the voting area where 100,000 or more qualified electors reside in the voting area.

I don’t have Facebook to join the group but my wife and I found our local spot and signed.

It might not work, but worth trying imo.

Not sure about fair and square. He ran one of the dirtiest campaigns I have ever seen in the run-off. The Urban league helped race-bait the hell out of people. His campaign said Rispone and Trump were coming to take people's food stamps, compared them to the KKK, there were signs in NOLA near Lambeth house that said JBE would save your social security. Urban league used hundreds of thousands in "street money" to bribe people into going out to vote. Dirty.

And here is what is wrong with our state. Somebody always moaning and groaning that nothing can be changed, don't waste your time trying to make changes. It is just like saying,"bend over and take it and you will like it." With that defeatist mindset nothing will change for the better,in fact,it will just get even worse. I applaud the recall effort. Even if they don't get the required signatures in the allotted time it still puts pressure on bel pepper. Our legislature isn't much better,it is like they are in hiding with spines like jellyfish,no one dares speak up or out. This is phucked up and sad. What has your state legislator done for your district in the last year?

We are going to phase 3(yes with restrictions)

Honestly, I have some fear that whichever of Louisiana's finest that replaced him would have us shutdown further

180 days to get 600k totat. Heard ~100k already signed.

If it succeeds, Billy boy would be temporary acting Governor until a special election is held.

Personal signed, but rather see the GOP majority in legislators step in and revoke his emergency declaration for Covid-19, therefore also ending his desire for mail in ballots in November and beyond.

Just got back from signing. The group collecting signatures said that the 2 of them have about 1,000 signatures on their own.

I don't expect a lot of news coverage in BR or NOLA, so it's going to take a lot of word of mouth and being visible at the collection spots.
