Really happy at Roseanne success, but I’m worried ABC will pull it like Last Man Standing

Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing was doing great in the ratings but the show was pulled because the characters were conservative. This was an ABC show and now they have Roseanne. Worried that while the show is great, Bob Iger and the SJWs at ABC might get hurt feelings and pull it eventually despite its successful ratings

Was it?

you're worrying about a show being canceled after the first episode where it had great ratings?
the conservative persecution complex is exhausting.

Last Man Standing was the best thing ABC had at the time.

Roseanne just had 18 million viewers. Most people thought you would never see those numbers again for a sitcom. It's not going away anytime soon.

ABC had a pretty big marketing campaign for it, and I'm pretty sure they knew the premise of the show going into the premier. They aren't going to immediately cancel it.

They won’t pull it, they’ll just change the narrative to mold their agenda. Scripts will be changed

With the ratings it pulled in, they won't cancel it. They will give it the limited run they have set for this season and maybe bring it back for another. Ratings $$$ is too important, especially in the short term.
Last Man Standing pulled ok numbers, but not great, and it had been around several seasons and they could track how the ratings were faring over time.
Finally, Roseanne is a different commentary on politics. Yes, she and Dan may be Trump voters, they are much less conservative than Mike Baxter was. Maybe more importantly, there are a number of left leaning characters that will provide more than enough balance/foil/pushback to any conservative views that Roseanne and Dan may have.
With LMS, they had the ribbing between Mike and Chuck over Obama, and shots at various liberal things, but I don't think any of the characters there would have shown up wearing a pussy hat and Nasty Woman shirt. For as much hippy/anti-gun/love the earth schtick that Ryan gave, I don't think you ever would have seen Boyd wearing a dress and nail polish.

They didn't know that some of the characters were conservative until the program aired?
Posted on 3/30/18 at 8:54 am to Parmen
Not all the characters are conservative. It's not a conservative leaning show.

And further Last Man Standing was not canceled because it was a conservative show. It was canceled because while the ratings were good, they weren't good enough for the studio to be able to charge much more for ads but it was good enough for the cast and crew to ask for raises (their contracts were up) and on top of that ABC didn't own the show, 20th Century Fox did. It was a 100% financial decision that the right wing media used as another red herring to brainwash conservative snowflakes with.

don't know what you're rolling your eyes at, that's exactly what happened.

You are delusional as hell. Financials most likely played a part but you have no proof at all to say it was a 100% financial decision.
It was unprecedented for a show with ratings like that to get the can.

Thanks, hadn’t seen it like this. I was born during the early part of Roseanne’s run and I never saw it, but I’m a John Goodman fan and I’m loving this show. Finally a show with blue collar conservatives that’s funny.

that the contracts were up and the studio didn't own the show is all the proof i need.
what proof do you have that it WASN'T a financial decision?
you people who think these Hollywood execs got where they are by canceling moneymaking shows or properties because they don't like the politics are hilarious.

I dont. Thats why I didnt make an absolute statement like 100% this or that decision. Tim Allen certainly didnt agree with that but im sure you know more than the star of the actual show. BTW Fox is contemplating rebooting this moneypit.

Playing politics is absolutely how these people get to where they are. If you really believe the people in media are at the top based off pure merit...well of course you do you are delusional

No it wasn't.

The show was only slated for an 8 episode run and that's it.

Right because the guy who got laid off is the most unbiased source on what happened

right because as I said, THEY OWN THE SHOW, and can make more money off it than ABC could.

Good lord you're dense. Playing politics to climb the corporate ladder is one thing, breaching your fiduciary duty as the chief executive of a publicly traded company because of personal politics is something else.
