Re: Gaetz: What is the worst thing that can happen if the govt isnt funded?

What I like about what Gaetz did was that it was mainly a consequence for the former speaker not keeping promises on things like single-subject bills, adequate review period prior to votes, etc. Basically actions that work towards draining the swamp and shrinking government, reducing waste and fraud and corruption. It is a very principled stance that I think most Americans agree with.
The other side of the republican caucus is arguing that you have to compromise to get things done. A dem senate and executive branch means if want any bill passed it has to be a compromise with them, including bills that fund government at a minimum.
Ive been thinking about this today and not sure how to answer it: If Gaetz had his way and the House had a speaker that only voted on and passed very conservative bills that shrink government and shrink spending dramatically, bills the dems will not support and pass in the senate, the government would naturally shut down. But then so what? Doesnt this mean the minority republicans in the house hold all the cards? Do conservatives care if the government isnt funded? Is that better than out of control debt and spending? Help me understand why we shouldn't threaten to shut down the government in order to get very conservative-friendly bills passed, like a budget for starters.

It'll be worse than Covid, racism and even climate change.
Maybe even worse than all 3 combined!
We're talking existential threat.

We’ve been funding everything without a budget, on Emergency CR spending where everyone throws in all their projects and it gets rubber stamped, and all the special interests that get that money, use it to pay off their Congressmen for the next payouts… 33+ trillion, and they will use responsible Americans that work every day and save, to pay it all off with higher taxes and robbing their retirement savings, while also stealing their Social Security…. Sit back and watch….

If the gang of 8 is solid then either
A. A speaker who agrees to their more than reasonable terms will stand tall or
B. We see rinos cross the isle to their true constituents, thereby ending the Republican Party.
If A,
Then we have a speaker who will be willing to shutdown the government, probably only 15%, but it’s time to force it down McConnells throat. Fuk future elections, the time to take a stand is now or never.

We should, the pedocrats want the whole world to bend to their will.
Screw them, enough is enough.
Shut It Down!

Is this the situation wherein the credit for U.S. borrowing does something less than ideal?

But then so what?
Purple district Republicans across the country would lose and the DEMs would have a huge majority in the House.
Victory?

The reason the DC crowd hates the shutdown is because it forces them to have to listen to the people. We are the master and they know it.
Congress is like the child that threatens suicide if it does not get its way.

And? Then what?

B. We see rinos cross the isle to their true constituents,
I imagine many will face heat from their actual constituents, the voters who elected them.
Lots of posters on this board pretend every GOP seat is a GOP+20 seat.
I mean shite, Boebert would likely be ousted if a shutdown lasts long enough (or, maybe if it just happens)
