She's spent more time in hospital beds than the bench the last year or so. The absolute selfishness that she won't just retire is astounding.

they just said infection caused by a gallstone

This is bad news. Gallstone related disease can be deadly, particularly acute cholangitis.

Man would you not be saying this if it were a justice you admired.

I don’t think the left will make it through the summer if she dies. Too much going on, they won’t know what to be worked up about the most and it will be too much for them to handle.

What are you saying here? That entirety of people with leftist philosophy are going to off themselves?

I listened to some patent trade mark case today, before the court very recently. She questioned the lawyers like a pro. It was maybe two days ago. She is still sharp.

Dems want her to die before the election rather than after....they'll say the her replacement must be selected after the election like McConnell did...

They want to use her death to get liberals to the polls

This is true, but Mitch still has the power to call for the vote, so he can do what he likes.

She has been deliberately storing up gall for the next opportunity to lash out at conservatives or the President.
Think maybe she over did it?

False. I support an age based forced retirement for each and every justice. What good is a conservative justice to me if his health is failing and he routinely can't meet the demands of his job?

Wow, William O. Douglas really veered left.

Yeah, I was curious what happened to him in 1950 to change his stance so much. Apparently it was this:

quote:

From 1950 to 1961, Douglas travelled extensively in the Middle East and Asia. Douglas wrote many books about his experiences and observations during these trips. Other than writers from National Geographic -- whom he sometimes met on the road -- Douglas was one of the few American travel writers to visit these remote regions during this period in time. In his memoir, The Court Years, Douglas wrote that he was sometimes criticized for taking too much time off from the bench, and writing travel books while on the U.S. Supreme Court. However, Douglas maintained that the travel gave him a world-wide perspective that was helpful in resolving cases before the Court. It also gave him a perspective on political systems that did not benefit from the legal protections in the American Constitution.

Never a good thing to hear. Hopefully she recovers and calls it a day to enjoy the rest of her time
