Not really sure how a federal law can hinder State police from doing no knock searches considering SCOTUS has said they are constitutional given proper justification. Then you’ll see the feds just ask the state to do it and then pick up the case.

There is that whole 10th amendment thing. The states has broad police powers only subject to the constitution, which is interpreted by SCOTUS, not the federal legislature.

Only way to “effectively end” no knock warrants in this country is to have SCOTUS find them unconstitutional.

The main arguments against are it provides the subject an opportunity to dispose of contraband and/or allows the subject an opportunity to arm themselves.

The main argument for abolishing such warrants is the IV Amendment of the Constitution.

Actually, Dan Bongino, an ex New York cop said a few days ago, they are needed in certain circumstances. When a known felon is in an apartment or house and believed to be armed, it’s dangerous to their lives to first announce their presence.

I'm aware. And not necessarily against. I do represent the bad guys. Well, they're not all bad. But some....some won't be going down without a pretty viscous fight, most especially if they have a few felonies on their record and know this new one likely means 40, 50, 60 years or more.

This is needed. The Dems will want to add money to pander votes with.

Please abolish no knock warrants, and the illegal confiscation of property, and see some legit police reform.

Those who sacrifice liberty for safety deserve neither.

Deduct it from the pension fund. Then we'll see the cops give a code red to the bad apples.

This quote makes no sense in the context in which it was used.

Then they shouldn’t haven’t abused the no knocks.

Let me see if I can explain it to you, then.

Cops don't get to worry about their safety when it sacrifices liberty of others.

Do you understand how relevant the quote is now?

Absolutely. This would make no-knock warrants irrelevant in most cases.

2. End qualified immunity for LEO.

Hmm. I’ll have to put some more thought into this one. It’s the qualified part that maybe could be tightened up some. Not sure exactly how you would do that without effectively drying up the pool for potential LEOs.

3. Abolish unions for any public sector employees.

I agree with this.

Agree with this with a caveat. The officer must be shown to be operating outside of standard policies and protocol and training. If they were operating as trained and in accordance with policy then both the individual and the department should be on the hook.

If this passes it gives me time to lose my weapons in a boating accident before the police try to seize them.

I support this, but when it's a visible republican (like Roger Stone) they will still be knocking the door in

You'd need to quote it accurately first. What you quoted is nonsense; having civilization and laws is giving up liberty for safety. You moving to CHAZ any time soon?

Didn't think so.

I didn't use any quotes for a reason.

quote:

Civilization and laws are for protecting liberty.

I can think of more than a few "small govt conservatives" that will vote against this because their lobby group says so.

I'm not crazy about federal dictates for local law enforcement, even when I agree with the purpose behind the law.

I’m fine with this simply because it is within the power of Congress to change things like this. It’s a due process violation at the very least and it’s well within the legislatures power to declare it so.

This. And when it's complete Trump can hit the campaign trail illustrating how he reversed the ridiculous cause championed by Joe Biden. Not that he needs any trouble sinking Bowden's campaign, but that would do it for sure.

I'm still in favor of mandating that police cannot turn off their body cams while dealing with the public.
