If Liz Truss doesn’t play this perfect, The UK will be a failed state within 3 months. The Queen dying, possibly the sole source of cultural unity among the people, is dead. The UK is seeing energy prices spike 5000%, they have no natural gas storage capacity, are facing rolling blackouts, their economy is in shambles, food has tripled in price, the pound has never been weaker verses the dollar, Northern Ireland and Scotland are on the brink of secession, and Liz Truss is taking over as prime minister without any real popularity among the people. The UK is a powder keg right now of Balkan proportions.

It’s going to take making difficult compromises on northern Ireland protocol, netting a better trade deal with the U.S. to get access to more fuel and food, making serious changes to energy policy and infrastructure VERY quickly to increase their gas supply and winter stockpiles so people don’t freeze to death, she has to stall Scotland long enough to get the energy situation under control and convince the Scots that fracking isn’t all that bad, and she has to head off a brewing situation at their public health system where a strike is being threatened. Not to mention, the burgeoning boondoggle of the UK’s high speed rail project which has largely stalled.
