Hell let him invade all the way to France. It’s time to see what those socialist would do when a real army rolls in.

Priority number one after the Cold War should have been to make russia an ally.

Hell. We made Germany a fake friend. Why not Russia?

You have come full circle. From blaming the Russians for all your failures, to wanting them to be your ally.

Exactly. Why are we propping up Europe? Russia would be an excellent ally against China. Give them the Baltic’s, Ukraine, and all the “shite stan” countries

Our government became infiltrated with Trotskyists post-WW2. There's a reason why DNC internationalists and neocons have a religious-like belief in permanent war. It's simply an extension of Marxist dogma regarding permanent revolution. We didn't fight Communism in the Cold War, we fought Stalinism.

I certainly have more respect for him than I do for that piece of shite in the White House. He's a much better leader and more decent person by far

All this does make me think how much both sides have at risk in Ukraine

If they are indeed the playground of the politicians looking to enrich themselves I could root for Putin temporarily.

We were on pretty good terms with Russia up until Obama. Remember when Bush said he looked into Putin's soul and saw that he was a good man?

Unless Russia and the U.S. both want to be China's bitch,

we had better start working together.

My family hosted a Russian foreign exchange student about 5 years ago.

She loves America and if she didn’t have an accent you’d think she was American.

They are so close to us in so many ways.

Sad really.

Yeah, he wants you to think that. And you do.

Putin is the former head of the KGB. They were the see eye A on meth and steroids. Putin is a master of subterfuge and psychological games.

He says and does things I agree with, but I would never trust him. He is corrupt to the core and completely rules his country, including jailing and murdering dissidents and political opposition. His loyalty lies only with his version of Mother Russia.

He will never be an excellent ally. His allegiance is to Russia alone.

This board’s love affair with Putin is weird.
He’s a tyrant who does not believe in freedom of the press or the people.

People are people.

I'm from Israel, have been all over Europe and Asia before my family landed in the states. Once you remove the cultural differences, there's really not much that separates most of us.

I think the left blaming him for everything under the sun reflexively made people like him. If left hates him he must be good!

But I agree with you. He's a classic oligarch at heart with Soviet restoration among his obvious goals. But we have to work with him, in the parameters we've been dealt. A less leftist, less corrupt option like Gorbachev would be preferable but that ain't happening. Putin has basically set himself up for a lifetime appointment.

.5% of Russia is Catholic

This thread is amazing

Putin doesn't want you as an ally whether you want him or not. He's a shitty human being. Russians aren't at all akin to traditionalist Americans unless you're viewing it through a 2022 lens of wokeness being the only alternative.

All this can be true without thinking we need to be involved in a Russia-Ukraine spat.
