public schools teaching on terrorism

so my daughter comes home today with homework on terrorism. according to her, one of the reasons we were attacked on 9/11 was because we stationed troops in mecca. the only problem being we never did that.
also, they skipped over the civil war.
this is in central. what the hell are the standardized teachings??? lies and omissions?

I mean, Bin Laden said that one of his biggest reasons he targeted the US/the West was because we put a permanent base in Saudi Arabia (which is where Mecca is located).

Don't get me wrong, a lot of these schools are indoctrination factories, but this isn't controversial.

OP follow up with teacher and ask humbly, "did you really teach we had troop in Mecca?"
If so, you need to correct the record with your students ASAP.
these kinds of mistakes about history are huge and misrepresent the course of history relative to understanding current dynamics.

Then the teacher needs to say we put a base "in Saudi Arabia." "In Mecca" is factually incorrect and misleading with religious implications.
The German Air Force has a facility at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. This does not mean they have troops stationed in Santa Fe.
