You'd probably be wrong. The county itself is 90%+ white Republicans.

I live in Williamson County. And this story confuses me. It's probably one of the most conservative counties in TN.

My school blacked out 9/11 that day. The rumor was Russian jets hit the towers. Funny, some liberal ideologies never change.

Our private school is MAGAing hard tomorrow. It's patriot dress down day.

No uniforms. Red white and blue because our kids aren't being raised as pinko commies and they are learning to love America instead of hating.

We also pray for the safety of ALL the folks at the inauguration and, gasp, for our new President.

MAGA

Should tie federal funding to them showing his speeches.

The story, even presented from one side by a hack writer, presents the school's side as very apolitical.

I mean look at how immature adults have been about this election. Maybe they just wanted to avoid that, especially since high schoolers are bound to be worse.

This isn't the Grammys.
No it's not. This is significant historically. HOWEVER, unlike the Grammys or sports, there is no suspense of an unexpected outcome, a primary component of their value. Watching it at noon or at home after school is not really much different.

But, part of our problem is that we want to eschew all the things that make our culture unique (and superior).
And whether it's viewed live or DVR'd, one can still take it in. Besides, just like I have an important meeting at noon, most people still have to go about their business. Student learning is no different, although I don't have an issue if they watched it either.

Probably because...

They are in school?
Well the interesting thing is that so many on here get upset when politics is brought into school, especially at the expense of core learning (many of those instances I've agreed).

Now we have an apolitical decision made, and many of those same people are upset that students are going to be required to work on the core learning like every other day.

Besides, it's one of the most affluent counties in the nation (many country stars live there); I'm sure there is a lot of pressure to get students into top schools.

It's fake news. Superintendent Looney put out a statement saying that none of this is based on any facts and that it's just a lie.

Teachers are also not allowed to discuss anything about politics or religions which is understandable b

It's not understandable that a public school won't show its students what a peaceful power transition looks like. This is civics. This is history. This doesn't have to have a political bent to it. It's possible to show the inauguration without discussing other issues or the political parties.

But adults can hardly refrain from interjecting politics and irrationality into something, especially this election. Do you think high schoolers are going to refrain from it when adults can't?

Besides, they can DVR it and watch it at home. Personally I would rather learn math than watch an inauguration; however, watching it in a civics course would be applicable to the content itself.

frick you with your "facts" LG.

I mean, we've been talking about it for more than a year - it's WHITE LIBERAL PUSSIES and RINOS that have the problem with Trump, not black folks (some of the BLM, Snoop, etc., notwithstanding). Trump has been doing business with, partnering with and promoting black folks since he was out of short pants.

This election isn't about a racial divide (although the Democrat party wants it to be).

Williamson County, TN should have been a giveaway

But yeah, I think you're right. Although some people have criticized his efforts to reach out to black folks, he has at least MADE the effort. His most vocal opponents in my opinion have been white liberals.

Most schools do not show any inauguration. My wife's school didn't show Obama's and will not be showing Trump's.

It is amazing. My place of work in 2008, a firm in BR that contracted with Feds, but not favorable to our line of work, had an optional day then. Guessing not the case now.
