Trump could have played it safe, gone the more 'traditional' route. I get that. It makes people feel better if things aren't rattled too much.

Its been stated by Trump and his team, on all MSM, that there is no one fits all foreign trade policy!!!! Geez!!! He's said repeatedly, each country will have its own custom trade agreement based on whats best for the US.
This about so much more than tariffs. Tariffs and foreign trade will be decided during these one on ones, but so will major geopolitical issues.
Using foreign trade to leverage countries away from China and to the US.
Its so simple.
You responded to half of my post. Try responding to the whole post - given the objective you outline above (which I've posted about/supported), why did he back off of them outside of China?
