Why do we care who wins the war in Ukraine?
a. I don't want bullet trains.
b. Whether Trump wants them or not is questionable.
c. If he does push for them, I'm against it.

There are cities where they are because of trains. Like Atlanta. It was an important rail hub.
This is a bad take.
And that city has its own transit system.

There are viable, highly trafficked, highly served, peripheral transit locations in virtually every city

Right and I don’t think a train across the country will even be worth while.
But you can connect closer largest cities to each other.

The driverless car model won’t require you to buy one. You just summon it and use it to get to you location. Any location. Not just locations connected by railroad. And what will a line of driverless cars all going to atl from bhm be if not, in effect, a giant train. Driverless cars will put many industries out of business, the least of which will be passenger trains.
Except cars take up far more space on a per-person basis.

Airplanes made trains obsolete in the 1950s.
Boeing and DEI pilots will make them relevant again.
Give me a bullet train over a newer Boeing and DEI pilot all day, every day.

I'd settle for just paving roads, expanding existing infrastructure in our fastest growing cities, and fixing the thousands of bridges we have that are all but falling down around our ears. But, hey......a shiny new train would be cool.
