One of the very few actions the state inarguably has a responsibility and right to act on is national security. Not bombing the nuclear facilities of a nation that hosts "Death to America" rallies, and who is 5 months away from nukes, would be retarded. Especially given there was 0 risk for us to do it because Israel already took out all their anti air capability.
There will be 0 boots on the ground. Where is Iran going to hit us? Saudi Arabia? Bahrain? Fat fricking chance. They might go after us in Iraq, but the Iraqi government has already mobilized their federal troops to put pressure on the Iranian militias there. They dont want yet another war either
The cost of knee capping Iran's nuclear ambitions will probably run in the low 9 figures. The cost of not doing so, goes up greatly. We now hold all the cards in peace negotiations. Sometimes you need to fight a little bit to have long term peace.
