As for GOP lawmakers, Quinnipiac finds: “By a 54 – 38 percent margin, American voters want the Democratic Party to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives. This is the widest margin ever measured for this question in a Quinnipiac University poll, exceeding a 5 percentage point margin for Republicans in 2013.”

Even if I were to accept the polls as being accurate, it ignores how the seats have been gerrymandered over the years to create only a handful of competitive races.

The Democrats have as much chance of taking Tennessee's 1st or 2nd Congressional Districts (which the GOP or its predecessors have held, uninterrupted with only the exception of a 4-year period in the 1870's for the 1st, since BEFORE THE CIVIL WAR) than the Republicans do of taking Maxine's or Sheila Jackson's seats.

Ah.. another poll... This is the same polls and predictions that said Hillary would win in a landslide..

According to these "pollsters" we shouldn't even be having a discussion at all with the words President Trump in them.

The toddy rant is nothing more than wistful thinking. If, if, if....maybe if toddy's aunt had testicles then she would be toddy's uncle. Oh I forgot, she could self declare herself as your uncle. Having said that, her narrative has a higher probability than democrats winning.

I must have missed the part where Toddy said Trump wasn't the president. Stay on topic if you are capable.

Nothing in the op ed is wrong EXCEPT for the fact that it is a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGGGGG time between now and November 2018. The people who are up in arms today are not going to bother to go to the polls in 16 months or whenever it is. Had they gone to the polls 8 months or so ago we wouldn't have Trump in the whitehouse today.

I'll believe it when I see it....until the elections are over and it is blatantly obvious that the various groups who are pissed with Trump could be bothered to get off their arse and actually vote I will be dubious at best.

On the bright side Trump has shown the way for both republicans and democrats to the white house or whatever office they seek...appeal to LABOR...no matter what tax bracket you are in or whose genitalia you are drawn to the odds overwhelmingly say you are a member of the laboring class....once people have their basic needs met through meaningful employment they will be more open to the idea of men in skirts shitting in the ladies room....but force them to consider that crap AND worry about being put out on the street and you are simply asking to damn much.

The greatest progressive strides we have ever made in this nation came during a time when the economy was BOOMING...folks were living the American dream and were not as opposed to black folks being treated as equals....but when folks are stressed about the basic necessities....shelter, food, water...they go nuts and are easy to convince that it is "them" who is creating a problem....

It will absolutely be wrong. People are basing this dream of "just wait until the mid-terms and the Ds take back the House!" on past history. Past history is out the door right now, if anything, we will see even more anti-establishment types elected in the mids to the House. The voters aren't going to say, "oh well, lashing out against the establishment didn't work, put the Ds back in charge"

I think you are probably right, UNLESS conservatives frick up this healthcare bill as bad as it looks like they will. I know several people who were on the fence on Trump and voted for him because they thought he would get their premiums down. If that doesn't happen, Republicans are fricked.

If you are able though, please give reasons and examples of what she uses in this article as being wrong.

For starters a #NeverTrumper from WaPo writes her emotion based oped and I'm supposed to take it seriously?

Lastly - Kindly GFY.

It will/would take multiple election cycles for the Democrats to take back the majority in the House. It's not happening all at once in 2018. Best bet would be 2022 at the earliest.

Share with us anything obama did for the middle class.

Share with us anything obama did to grow the economy.

8 fricking years completely wasted, absolutely nothing he did that doesn't need a complete rework, which is exactly what Trump is doing

Damn near all of the economic numbers are better going back more than 8 years, tells any non-idiot something.

Who wrote that drivel? If you think that the democrats are going to sniff a majority in either the Senate or the house in 2018 you are on dope.
