Not sure how bad the trailer parks are in your area but the companies I service in oil, petrochemicals, building as well as transportation are all picking up pretty damn good. There is an abundance of new construction as well as existing homes on the market for sure but there are factors that exist for that, cost for them being the biggest

Why? I doubt you have a serious answer.

What you should have posted is: "Americans aren't coming back to construction for wages illegals accept" - which is consistent with the argument many have made for years, that the open border was suppressing American working class wages.

Nobody is building or buying at 7%. I understand the issue of the 2.25 and 2.5% thing, but 7% is far too high at this juncture.

They need to be in the 5 to 5.5% range. But Powell knows what happens when they do that, the economy gets a boost and Trump gets a win.

Globalists don't want that. Just like they didn't care we were enriching every other Nation but America under Biden and Obama.

It wasn’t a hook. I expected bites on the non-hook. But those are all “skilled jobs” in that they require education and certifications.

I think the tide might be turning some. The graduating kids who aren’t going to college will join the work force at some point.

Maybe people need to be reintroduced to reality. Since 1971, when Freddie Mac began tracking it, the average 30-year fixed rate on a mortgage is 7.7%.

Agree. And efforts to get them uncomfortable being unemployed and to stop the disability gravy train will help this happen quicker.

In a small circle of mine of a couple dozen high school kids from public school, we have about 30% specifically aiming at joining the trades. Males.

Females are headed to college at a much higher rate for the same circle.

The abandonment is being driven primarily (in my estimation) by a softening economy. We are probably finally reaching the end of Covid money working its way through the system and piper-paying is on the schedule.

Agreed

Because they're just not. And they're especially not coming to general/unskilled like laborers, sheet rock, framing, painting, concrete, etc. There's some argument that maybe it will slow the hispanic revolution coming to plumbing, electrician, mechanical but even those are currently being swallowed up at an alarming rate.

All you're going to see is these building timetables slow down. And you'll see it in real time. Like I've said - we've gotten building timelines slowed from 2 year projects taking 8 months. They're about to go back to 2 years.

The stat in the first post is not building timetables that have slowed. It’s projects that have been abandoned.

Thats why I laugh at the "bring back mfg" folks. If you do, it will require mass automation

That's exactly what the "bring back mfg" folks have been saying. We want the high-end mfg that uses automation. Plants with automation still require employees. And with the coming AI, we need to get the plants here before they are built in other countries. We need to get the people with the training to work in these plants before other countries.

The only people talking about bringing back sweatshop labor are the ones against a strong industrial and manufacturing base and are simply using it as an ineffective talking point. Your strategy leaves us vulnerable. If all these automated plants are built elsewhere, then we will face an even greater unemployment threat when AI becomes prevalent. Once again, "principled conservatives" prove unable to see the big picture.

Typical MAGA floating goals.

We have that type of mfg, and you people hate it, in fact we lead the world in manufacturing value per capita.

So now the idea ISNT to return high paying mfg jobs...

This really isn't an answer.

Are blacks and whites too stupid to learn requisite skills?

Are black and whites incapable of physically doing the work?

Why can't these jobs be manned by American citizens?
