re: Princeton scientists claim we'll have hot fusion reactors in 10 years

Haven't thorium reactors been around for a while and are much safer than typical nuclear power?
Point is, I wonder how long government will hold this tech up from reaching the masses.

Well that fricking sucks... We will only have two years to enjoy the technology before the world ends
Exactly what I was thinking. They'll figure out a way to weaponize it.

I’m not, I’m talking about AOC’s claim were fricked and 12yrs is all we have left.
Too little too late Princeton scientists... All your brain power won’t help us. Time to kill all the cows and ground all planes.

Establishing a stable, continuous fusion reaction is one thing, extracting power from it is entirely another problem that could take years to solve and then decades more before seeing it installed and powering residential areas.
Imagine how much more difficult and time consuming it would be for "green energy".

To this as the very next series of words: quote: lowering greenhouse gases,
The only science that gets funded is research on lowering greenhouses gases and extending the lifespan of HIV+ gays. So no matter how beneficial your theory would be to humanity overall you have to find the right angle to sell it.

Fear has been a very successful angle for quite a while. It works. Why would they change it?
Add a little guilt and you have a winning angle. "Do it for the children".

So - injecting boron powder into plasma lowers greenhouse gasses.
I feel so proud of myself at this moment!

I've been "burned" (sorry) by the fusion folks in the past, but it is down to an engineering problem now. It's not theoretical. We know how to do it. We just don't know how to do it with a net energy return yet.
But, when we do, it will be the next revolution (along with, as my son keeps telling me, AGI).

So far it is mainly for forklifts across the country. Sounds like a small market but it is the reason why the liquid hydrogen demand is growing the fastest that it has been in decades.
Remember when hydrogen fuel cells were going to save the planet?
However, I don't see mass adoption for cars since Electric vehicles have a huge jump start so infrastructure resources will go to that over hydrogen fueling stations.

My friend Marty already has one.

Yeah - it will have to make sense for a fleet - I think UPS tried it in some regions. Might make sense if the cost analysis works for a fleet runner like a government agency, Fedex, UPS, etc. Probably not going to be mass adopted for the near term precisely because of electric penetration and market acceptance as best alternative to gas/diesel.

Hell...I remember when you would be able to just put your garden hose in your gas tank in about 10 years!
Good times...good times!

Also further gives lie to the lefty physicists who predicted for decades that such massive amounts of energy would only be attainable in a post-Nation/State planet (Type-1).
frick those globalist assholes.

I’m sure that mixes well with affirmative action. What could go wrong?
