Change voting laws to where one has to have owed taxes on a return in the last four years in order to vote. Why should the life-long takers have a say in how tax dollars are spent?
As long as a slim slice of the citizenry is paying a vast majority of the taxes, we shouldn’t have equal voting rights.
The masses can vote themselves other people’s money way too easily. You can see the results in today’s budget which almost all transfer payments and debt interest.

consumption tax doesn't make since at all to me. I am not a flat tax person either. While he concept of everyone paying the same amount in % seems like a grand idea, my question is will the Math work on a flat tax. The tax cut bill is already going to be a headache on revenue so without cutting spending ( which neither party will do)there is a crisis upcoming.

Our current system gives the central planners in DC way too much power. They are able to reduce this tax, increase that tax, give a deduction here, a tax credit there, all this to buy votes from their targeted groups. It would be easier just to set a flat consumption tax rate and be done with it. Then force the Federal Govt to live within their means.

Has yet to send me my refund check I mailed in on April5th.
I know this is no solace to you but mine was e-filed on April 12th, still no response, had CPA request file (had to sign power of attorney). Still no response. I wonder if I can list the unpaid refund as donation on 2021filing.

pipe dream, with these two parties are not going to control spending.

Exactly. The second problem is the number of people who contribute zero to the tax base, the third problem is the lack of transparency. A VAT would fix all three, which is why it’ll never happen.

Kind of puts these trillion dollar aid packages in perspective. $13 billion is nothing

My proposal is to eliminate the IRS and implement a VAT tax. Get rid of everything else: income taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, death taxes, tariffs, etc, etc, etc. fricking EVERYONE pays the same rate whenever they consume anything. Don't want to pay taxes? Don't buy stuff.
Tell us you hate lower income folks without telling us you hate lower income folks.
Regressive taxes such as this are not fair; they are punitive on lower income folks.

That’s such a tired response; don’t you mensa members ever come up with anything new? It’s unhealthy for people to get a voice in making financial decisions for the country when they don’t contribute anything to those finances. That’s pragmatism, not hate.

How about a flat tax for EVERYONE you nimrod. Eliminate all the deductions and operate under a balanced budget. Easy breezy but the politicians like things just the way they are now.

Let’s stop treating college as a place to “find yourself” and “explore the classics”
Exploring the classics and learning how to think was the entire purpose of college for most of its history. It is now primarily an instrument of indoctrination to marxism / leftist thought.

Another "pipe dream" is thinking the Fed Govt can continue to spend money like it has without consequence.
IMO, our country is 5-10 years away from some sort of forced austerity. I am looking forward to this happening.

Agreed. Quit taking 30% of my damn income

Such a stupid concept. Hey I want to buy something (community college), rather than looking at my current budget and seeing if I could move some things around to afford it, I will just make more money.
It is not sustainable.
