My two cents from this thread.
We need someone with brass balls to save our country. Thank God for Donald J. Trump.
Having those brass balls allows you to completely make up people from Harlem going up to Cambridge to protest Harvard and KNOW that no one is going to call you on it directly.
----------
Smith asked Trump what he would say to those who view his attacks against Harvard as “an attack on academic freedom, rather than a defense of fairness.”
Trump replied:
“Well, I say this. We had riots in Harlem, in Harlem, and frankly if you look at what’s gone on—and people from Harlem went up and they protested, Stephen, and they protested very strongly against Harvard. They happened to be on my side,” Trump said.
“You know I got a very high Black vote. You know that? Very, very high Black vote. It was a very great compliment to me,” Trump continued.

Its certainly helped me refine my arguments and opinions on a number of issues and helps me play devils advocate on liberal boards as well. And at times changed my mind entirely on an issue or current event.

For me, the discussion in this thread was valuable for because it highlighted the difference between the "rabid window lickers" (Trump is never wrong!!! And anyone who suggests he might be is evil!!!) and rational MAGA
Really? That's been a pretty stark divide for a couple of years now.

I'm slow on the uptake. Also, I really do tend to ignore WHO says something. I'm just interested in what they say. I'm coming around though.

I think its more nuanced than a stark divide. There's certainly a lot of overlap.

This is commendable and I wish it happened more often. My mind has also completely changed about topics/events over the years. I really appreciate when posters take the time to really explain why they think something. I appreciate nuance and find it valuable.
I think that's why some posters get really mad at me here. Because to a lot of posters, this is a place to argue and defend their positions and never be persuaded. Often times, I want to know more so I ask questions. Questions are often posed here in attempts at gotchas, though, so people get mad when they see questions. My questions are earnest, most of the time at least. I've learned a lot from some of the long-time posters (Slo not included).

You’ve got him this time for sure.

MOSTLY to check my understanding of reality. Despite the nastiness of some (it REALLY angers me to see the names you're called), the breadth of experience from people in various walks of life helps with that...particularly in areas of which I am completely ignorant.
Occasionally, I will post to make a point, but mostly my posture is "This is what I think. Do you disagree? What do you know that I don't know?"
Also, if something important is happening in the world, PoliBoard is a good way to discover that.
Even though some worldviews and values expressed here are incompatible, I very much appreciate PoliBoard's ability to get the actual facts correct through the poster back and forth...if done in good faith
That's why I appreciate you. Despite the charges of you trolling, I think you post what you believe...and you respond to questions.
Other than you, I'm not sure we have many (ANY?) young women. So, I always want to hear how you view things. Not because you're inherently smarter, but because you have had experiences that shape your perspective that are different than mine.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Cubbies, do you know of any other young women who post here regularly?
Posted on 5/2/25 at 2:31 pm to IvoryBillMatt
Nope, but I'm tickled by your continued referral to me as "young."
I think I was 20 when I started posting here.

Lol. JFK was president when I was born.
What's your guess as to how many women post here? I can think of only one other.
