This is true but like you said should not be conflated with islamic radicals.
NOI for all intents and purposes was the original BLM group here. Just a little more out there, but way more of a black group than really anything to do with Islam.

Yeah, when it was first posted, it just said the "he hates white people" part. I think someone quoted that in this thread, and I remarked LAT may be leaving the "allahu akbar" part out on purpose, and then LAT added that line to match the other reporting that was out there.

Not sure of the point you are making. I agree, that a connection with BLM from this guy is tenuous, at best...but his point that the guy might have latched on to some of their more radical ideas and statements would ring more true if it is so loosely based that they have no clear leader, or agenda.

correct they just aren't as 'mainstream' as BLM not to mention they didn't have social media and the same media complex to carry as much water for them as BLM. NOI has advocated violence making them an extremist (possibly terrorist) group. I haven't seen as much of that from BLM although it is there.
Both are black 'empowerment' groups that border on black supremacist groups (and no one can tell me that's not a real thing). Although I think BLM has much better intentions for the most part.

we were discussing the potential "BLM v. muslim" debate for his motives
i was just saying there isn't much overlap between that kind of Islam and BLM...but he could be a "muslim" via NOI and be more in line with BLM
it was like an aside that's been dissected way too much
