The left wing is responsible for this.

The original article didn't say anything about Islam, it just said he hated white people and the government.
But shouted Allah Akbar? How would that tie him to BLM?

I understand, but I'm specifically responding to the idea that acknowledging this reality is somehow downplaying the significance or threat of radical ideologies. In actuality, I think you can acknowledge that some "fake" radicals will come under the label of those ideologies without it being some effort to water down the overall risk.
See the hand wringing about terms like "lone wolf"

Fair enough. I am not saying it is BLM-style attack (whatever that is).
However a lot more "guilt by association" would have to happen to left-wing groups before I lose sleep over it.

Ahh forgot about her. I was mostly talking about people I know and associates, family members, etc. But point stands

Do you have any black friends who have converted to Islam? I just want to know what they see in the religion.... Seems like not much to offer, but I'd like to hear insight if you know any.
there is real Islam and fake, Nation of Islam, Islam
NOI is black empowerment stuff more than Islam (why it's fake)
real Islam can have some appeal, specifically for people who have made a lot of mistakes in their lives, realize they're likely to commit them again without a framework, and want a controlling ideology over them to submit to
Christianity has similar appeal, but the basics of Christianity involve forgiveness for sins. it is much more based in a belief that people are good, but flawed. Islam is more based in a belief that people are bad and need to be controlled

it's theoretically possible, but a major reach right now given what we know
Gotta throw some BLM in there regardless. Extra upvotes and anger plus if they have nothing to do with it it's not like he'll have any accountability on this board. Win win.

whoa, bud. NOI is based in black empowerment. BLM is based in VERY similar beliefs

oh yeah it's actually a brilliant strategy by ISIS
they've decentralized their networking in this sphere and promote individualized, random acts of violence
that presents a very real threat for civilized society
but it presents a very difficult issue in effectively labeling the motivation and association

Are you following what I'm saying?
When the story broke, I found this article (now edited) which said nothing about Islam. I did find a twitter post mentioning what he said upon arrest, which is why I said "potential x/y." The story later updated with the allahu akbar part to match the tweet.
So, you can criticize me for tying a "black guy hates white people" story to BLM if you want, but I'm not trying to tie BLM to Islam. It was originally posted as an either/or situation, although we've since discussed how they might theoretically come together.

So black empowerment = terrorism?

I think their point is that he has a closer connection to radical Islam than to BLM. He yelled Aluha Akkbar, and all. (But, did you say that was not in the original article linked?)

radical ideologies just attach to crazy people
crazy people see the world differently, because they're crazy, and extreme ideologies just work with that mindset
it doesn't always have to be related to violence. lots of conspiracy kooks are just crazy people who seek outlets that confirm this biased view of themselves within the world
The difference is how the media spins the events. Dylan Roof was a clear psycho and his actions precipitated an anti-statue movement. Acts like these, where the races are reversed, lead to nothing more than a blurb on page 8.

i'm not saying this is motivated by the actual groups
but to answer your question specifically: in the hands of a crazy person? it's very possible (same as white empowerment crazies like Roof)

But that's the scary thing about Islam. Even the fringe supporters are doing things 'in the name of Allah'.
I'm waiting for Christians get tired of this shite and start wrecking these pedophile worshiping fricks.
