Please don't be obtuse. Everyone knows what the document is establishing. It is affirming disordered relationships and it will get worst.

It's not. It even has the unmitigated gall to say it is not doing that very thing.

no fault divorced people

Don't get me started on the corrupt annulment process (i.e.Catholic divorce). Years ago I stood and listened to the gut-wrenching plea of a 16 year old girl pleading with her father not to leave them. He did and got an annulment to boot.

To this day, the children of that broken union refuse to step one foot into a Catholic Church. I can understand why.

Jesus, I trust in you.

Truth, what is that? - Pontius Pilate

Don't be deceiving yourself. Protestants are experts on Catholic doctrine, don't you know?

People don’t need to be experts to ascertain the meaning of words like” I bless you”

Why is there never a mention from any of the New Testament writers where they tell followers to seek Peter for answers on doctrinal issues?

I mean...there kind of is. Acts 15 is pretty explicit. There is a huge disagreement in the Church over the need for circumcision to be a Christian. Paul didn't think it to be needed but there was clearly division amongst the earliest followers of Christianity on this question because they needed to convene a council to address this specific question. Paul says his peace, the Judaizers say theirs, and then Peter gets up to deliver his verdict against the need for circumcision. The matter is concluded after that and there is absolutely no more discussion to be had on the subject.

quote:

Paul even writes a story about having to confront Peter to his face for his hypocrisy.

Yeah...because Peter was trying to play both sides of the argument. Paul rightfully called him out on that. However, we never do hear Peter's side of the story. Either way it was after that confrontation that the council in Jerusalem was convened because there was division within the Church on that topic.

Says the RCC.
It’s very convenient for one organization to proclaim it has all authority over what is and isn’t biblical truth

Isn't this exactly what you do?

The difference here is that:

1 - Jesus established a (single) church

2 - Granted that church with indefectability and infallibility

3 - This church is visible, hierarchical, and authoritative (Matthew 18:15-18). Meaning it's not some collection of many different denominations created over a thousand years later. It's always existed since 33AD.

4 - This church is the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim 3:15)

5 - This church, through the intercession of the Holy Spirit, can discern truth (2 Peter 1:20-21)

So yes, the Church, not Revelator, can discern (not decide) what is and isn't Biblical truth.

You know how many scripture passages the Catholic church has dogmatically defined the interpretation of? About 8ish in total.

I agree with CatholicTigerFan, it's Christmas, and I will be focusing on that instead of arguing with grossly misinformed mouth-breathing heretics all weekend.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Lolol.

A. We were talking about “truth”
B. Bible condones and talks at length about slavery
C. Your perception of God’s word is made up of writings by…man

Okay, last post in this thread...for real this time.

I agree 100%. It's a joke. Either marriage is a sacrament, or it's not. This needs to be reformed.

No. Actually I’m very open about hearing people’s interpretations of scripture and actually listen to multiple sources who present differing opinions. Some of my views on certain biblical issues have changed throughout the years and I’m always willing to listen and learn.

And then say Merry Christmas. thanks brother

Are you calling your brothers in Christ Jesus heretics for not being Catholic as yourself?

I want it to be clear. Just so the rest of us know what you think of us. Jesus knows before you speak it.

Happy Jesus Day

No one is hating on Catholics. I have not seen that once.

This is what is wrong with the entirety of our society. If you disagree you must hate it. Where did this come from? It is prevalent in all things discussed on this board. All the forums.

That might be the dumbest comparisons ever made on this board. Cigarettes smoking is a wisdom/truth? Covid is a wisdom/truth? You have nothing to reach for as a comparison to the truth of biblical scripture so you decide to go ahead and present a list of things that are not biblically presented as truth in scripture?

No entity on planet earth has done more to advance and normalize Homosexuality and Homosexual sex/rape than the Catholic Church. Thousands and thousands of years of abuse and Homosexuality. It’s sick.

So you're saying things which were long-taught, practically universally so, as orthodox doctrines since the 1-3rd centuries, such as infant baptism, baptismal regeneration, sola verbum dei, apostolic succession, real presence, salvation not being secure, etc. should not have been changed by the whims of men in the 16th century?

I agree with you that the Prots were wrong to change those things.
