Any rational being would rather be born a human being.
So, under the Pope's theology on this issue, every rat soul, every dog soul, every snake soul is condemned to spend Eternity trapped and without a chance to evolve into a higher physical being in some future incarnation.
IMHO, it's more just if a good dog or a good horse has a chance at reincarnation as a healthy bouncing human baby.
I agree that horses are nice, but, I would rather be a human being.

Even if I thought animals did go to heaven, I would still rather be human. Whether or not an animal is allowed into heaven has nothing to do with it. I think animals would feel the same way if they could talk. They would rather be human in this life regardless of whether they could get into heaven or not.
