i think policies and presentation as a whole matter

hell i think if they do shift back to moderation, Tim Ryan could be a solid candidate if he keeps up the fight

I mean the best news for Trump in 2020 is that every bit of oppo has already been done on him. The Billy Bush stuff is out there already, the rape accusations are out there, the bankruptcies are out there.

Whoever he is running against though is going to have their skeletons come out, and every candidate has skeletons at this point.

I can see Julian Castro being a hot name. He will need to run and win something like a House seat in the meantime.

Castro, Booker...those make the most sense.

No chance it will be a Straight White Male. I don't think the Dems will ever run one again.

You didn't answer my question. Why do you think Bernie blew out Hillary in West Virginia. Was it because he was the moderate candidate? Was it because he had slick presentation?

I think one of Hickenlooper or Bullock jumps in to pitch themselves as the safe white guy. (Obviously this will be couched as "able to reach Trump voters" or something like that.)

If you think the Dems are going to the center for 2020 you haven't been paying attention. The base is foaming at the mouth and they are going to go for a hard core, anti-Trumper of some kind that meets the purity test. No way a moderate gets through the primaries.

Moderate Dems are about as common as white buffalo.

The Dems have a big problem trying to keep the Berniebros in the fold while reaching a more moderate audience.

There are a LOT of moderate Dems. Union workers are a great example.

Eh, if the Dems don't realize they are drowning after losing to the current clown in the White House, the Supreme Court, losing the Senate, and 69/99 state houses, I doubt anything will change when they get an even smaller minority of Congress.

As the guy from the Young Turks said, if you can't beat the guy driving the clown car, maybe it's time to change drivers. Only this driver is funded by the current establishment and would rather kill everyone in the car than get out.

i think Bernie appealed to the working class with his policies and presentation (seemed genuine in his desires)

i mean i know he's a big AGW guy but so is Hillary, so that cancels each other out

HRC had no appeal to the working class and Bernie did (along with Trump)

Elizabeth Warren

The Dems are really lost in the woods if she gets the nomination.

Gerald Ford could beat Elizabeth Warren in 2020.

Elections are about playing the strategy. Trump proved that. You can everyone in New York and the West Coast against you entirely as he does, it's not enough to win. Republicans have set up the districts and states to maintain a majority in Congress for generations and to always be in play for the Senate.

The Dems get a great start in presidential elections. However as they go further left, they will lose that white middle class working base. They are counting on Hispanics, but once they get settled in younfind Hispanics aren't as monolithic a voting group nor or they that left leaning. Trump got 30%. After all he did he got 30% roughly. They figure out this immigration thing that number goes up and cements Texas and Florida for good.

Let them nominate Warren. She can be the woman version of Mondale.

Do people really think the democrats would run Warren?

They need someone like a Justin Trudeau, if he currently exists in the party. I feel like they'll throw a gimmick and go Corey Booker.

I was thinking the same thing. These are those "concerned citizens" we're seeing "organically" showing up at town hall meetings to "express their concerns".

The Democrat Party has been drifting further and further left for years. That's why they keep losing so many elections. The pert is out of touch with mainstream America, it's gone too far left.

Romney really seems like their only reasonable option at this point.

It is! I wonder if Ken Vogel had any part of it.

Fair enough. Trump is going to be freaking exhausted after all this daily bickering. it's got to wear on even him.

Trudeau is gonna get slammed in the next election. Dude has gone so far left, it's no longer just liberal, it's radical.

I think the initial play is going to be Fauxahontas with Fauxbama as her VP.

However, I bet Fauxbama does better in focus groups and polls - they're just going to have to deal with the gay issue, closeted or no.
