But when you read it, sounds pretty damn good to me...

“He’s used to getting what he wants and he’s a tough street guy,” said Billy Procida, a former vice president for the Trump Organization. “He’s been dealing with subcontractors his whole life. You know what it’s like to deal with subcontractors? They’re all terrorists. They all want more money for the job and then you’ve got to fight them and say, ‘OK, quid pro quo, I’m going to give you this, you do that, I’ll give you this, you do that, if you don’t do this, I’m going to do that.’”

The disjuncture between the table-pounding imperatives of New York real estate and the delicacies of international diplomacy helps explain, these people say, why Trump is having trouble understanding why his “perfect” phone call with Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, may have crossed a line.

“He does nothing without a quid pro quo,” said a former White House official. “Nothing. Whatever deal has got to be to his advantage.”

“He treats a lot of conversations and a lot of negotiations, including with foreign leaders, along those lines,” said another former White House official. “‘What is it that you want? Here’s what we want.’ How can we find a way to reach some kind of deal or accommodation where we both get what we want but in particular where I, representing the U.S., get what I want.”

That negotiation style is exactly what I’d want from an American President.

All foreign aid involves a quid pro quo.

Everything in business is horse trading.

Politics is, too, but only when the approved people do it.

The whole thing is ridiculous. Unless he asked for the Ukraine to "find" evidence supporting corruption how is this any different than the Obama administration investigating Trump then releasing the investigation to the press during the last election?

All US foreign policy is quid pro quo. We are always asking for something in return unless we are sending some form of humanitarian aid for a disaster.

Usually our horse trading is:
We’ll do what you want, and we will pay for it.... please make us cheap shite to import into our country.

Replace “sub contractor” with “politician” and it’s identical.

The dim narrative is running in circles on this one...

At first they were asserting the digging dirt on political rivals = campaign finance narrative

Fail. No need to dig dirt. Joe and Hunter are dirty.

Then it was extortion.

Fail. Zelinsky and Ukraine officials felt no pressure (and brilliant job by Radcliffe to put the dims in a box as impugning the Ukraine's credibility- so no circling back here)

Now it seems we are on to bribery.

If American's hadn't been so furking dumbed down by dim policies & Walt-Disney/MSM dipshittery over the past 40 years, this should not even be mentioned. Since Zelinsky did not give Trump anything of value to do an act for Ukraine to the detriment of the US, there is no bribery.

So let's circle back around again.

As the American President, no matter what you are negotiating, you ALWAYS have the high ground. Trump is an expert at negotiating from a position of strength. He has literally trained his entire life for this job and is knocking it out of the fricking park.

That’s how deal making works, and there’s nothing unethical or illegal about it. These idiots are used to us just bending over for the rest of the world

This. As long as the quid pro quo is for the benefit of the nation it’s not wrong.

If Trump said “I’ll give you the aid if you fire the person investigating my son and give him a Cush job at a big gas company” then they would be wrong.

I guess they’re trying to say Trump withheld aid if they didn’t investigate Biden for his own political benefit by hurting his opponent, but nothing shows that is the case so far. He didn’t state that aid was being withheld for that reason and didn’t say anything about helping with the election. Gonna be hard to prove intent without any actual evidence

This is EXACTLY what I tell people about Trumps demeanor. New York builder is a tough business.

Then if that’s the case (big IF), it sounds to me like there was no intent involved.

And I’ve been told intent is everything.
