Research suggests that family violence is two to four times higher in the law-enforcement community than in the general population. So where's the public outrage?

Families of veterans suffer, as well

Because so many of these brave soldiers become police officers when they return home (I'm personally Facebook friends with two people fitting this description), I think it's safe to assume that the problems overlap.

BTW - we obviously can't come anywhere near criticizing our brave and victorious troops, but when they become cops I suppose they're instantly fair game?

What's up with postal workers? The term 'going postal' has come to mean going nuts and violent. What's so stressful about delivering the mail at salaries higher than cops?

The USPS has done a really good job addressing that to be honest. I find that my interactions with postal workers are top notch - they're super friendly whereever and whenever I encounter them lately. Maybe just a coincidence but it seems like they go out of their way.

Was there any doubt that police were violent at home as well as on the job?

Not trying to excuse that some cops have serious issues with D/A but I can tell that the police have to deal with the nastiest scum of society day in and day out.

It wears on people to see the worst of societal ills day after day, year after year.

From seeing abused children, battered spouses, people that have been murdered, working bloody auto accidents & seeing people who are decapitated, seeing severed limbs in three places in a vehicle, trying to find someones head who has been in a head-on collision.

Or having to trying to save a person who has been severly burned because seconds are precious and they can't wait for the EMTs to arrive.

On top of that, they have to deal with punks in da hood who are pushing dope on small children and using these small children a drug 'mules'.
Having to be spit on and called racist names by the thugz in da hood, being assualted by a thug with a blade or razor.

Try being under constant threat every time you pull someone over, try having a target on your back EVERY WHERE you go, 24-7.

Yeah yeah I know, cry me a river. Well when a group of punks is trying to kick down YOUR door at 1:15 in the morning, DON'T call them racist 'pigs'.

When someone steals your stuff, DON'T call the cops.

When someone is pushing crack or meth to your children, DON'T call the cops.

When thugs are taking over your neighborhood, stealing your stuff you have worked hard for, terrorizing you, your children, & your neighbors, HANDLE IT YOURSELF.

DON'T CALL THE COPS.

No one forced them to take the job. If they can't handle it without beating their wives, they probably should have went into some other field.

Sounds like an ER doc or trauma surgeon to me. Are their rates of domestic abuse as high as cops

Again, did I miss where these people were forced to be cops? Maybe if they worked harder in high school and college they would have had more career opportunities where they could have chosen a profession were they wouldn't "be a target 24/7."

Cool. I'll give all that up for the peace of mind of not having to deal with a cop harassing me for no reason at all.

So lemme guess, you were 'profiled' for no reason other than being 'black'?

When the real story is you were probably driving 63 MPH in a 40 MPH zone.

And no, no one is forcing them to be a cop. Which is a reason many don't want to get into law enforcement. Its a thankless job.

If it were not for the police, you would have to do their job. You would have to try to keep the streets clean of thugs & drugs. Think about that.

Sure there are some bad cops out there but I can tell you with 100% certainity that most cops out there are good cops who care about their communities and and trying to make a difference .

Just remember, next time some thug steals your stuff or beats up your wife or breaks into YOUR home, handle it yourself.

Please don't call the police.

Hmm, pulling the race card, huh? Typical for a cop.

Exactly. So quit the sob stories about all the BS cops have to deal with. They (y'all) chose it. If its really that bad get another job. Oh wait, they (y'all) aren't qualified to do much of anything else.

If all cops did were keep the streets clean of thugs, no one would have a problem with them. But they do way more harm than good. Sorry you still live in delusional land where cops are just out there to serve and protect the citizenry.

You don't say.

....who still go out of there way to protect the bad cops. AKA still a bad cop in my book.

Will do. 2nd amendment baby

So do nurses and doctors at public hospitals, and they don't go home and beat their families.

From seeing abused children, battered spouses, people that have been murdered, working bloody auto accidents & seeing people who are decapitated, seeing severed limbs in three places in a vehicle, trying to find someones head who has been in a head-on collision.
And nurses and doctors see pretty much all of those as well.

Or having to trying to save a person who has been severly burned because seconds are precious and they can't wait for the EMTs to arrive.
Keep listing things.

Having to be spit on and called racist names by the thugz in da hood, being assualted by a thug with a blade or razor.
Doesn't happen nearly as often as you think it does.

Try being under constant threat every time you pull someone over, try having a target on your back EVERY WHERE you go, 24-7.
And there is your problem. They see EVERYONE as an enemy, no matter the circumstances. Us vs them mentality. Yay.
quote:

Yeah yeah I know, cry me a river. Well when a group of punks is trying to kick down YOUR door at 1:15 in the morning, DON'T call them racist 'pigs'.
And the cops would show up AFTER the fact because that's what they do. Not to mention, they may be the ones kicking down your door.

DON'T CALL THE COPS.
This argument is so played out.

"You have to put up with us and our shite because we are the only ones who can protect you. If you don't like how we treat the peons of society, then don't call us. We aren't the problem. Y'all are."

Such a pathetic argument.

Cops don't have a higher rate of domestic violence because of the profession they chose. Rather, they chose their profession because they're more inclined to violence and intimidation. They'd have beaten their wives & kids even if they'd have flunked out of cop school and become plummers.
