Sen Dianne Feinstein
?
@SenFeinstein

The Republican tax bill caps the mortgage interest deduction at $750,000 for new mortgages. In California, seven counties have average home prices that are more than $750,000: Alameda, Marin, Orange, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. #GOPTaxScam

Lol. Progs do everything they can to ensure that housing remains as financially unattainable as possible for the working class, and then they bitch because their holdings are so expensive.

I don't understand this portion of the bill. Mortgage Rates are different in different areas and as the mortgage is paid down, the interest diminishes. Why isn't this just a dollar cap?

If you can afford to get a mortgage of $750k, I think you can afford to eat a little interest.

I'm sure this is going to play REAL strong to the Dem base. Yeah. You know. The "little guys" they fight for.

Trump has got to be thinking to himself.

"Well, OK. I mean if you insist. Run around telling Americans how my policy likely means higher taxes for people who can afford homes over $750K!!!!"

I work with an engineer who earns probably $150k a year. His wife doesn't work. He lives in NYC. His house has no yard, a single car garage and only 1300 square feet. Value is $765,000.

It's not just the rich. Some areas of the country have property values that are just ridiculously expensive.

Well. You can take this to the bank.

The Democratic base considers someone making $150K who lives in a $750K home "rich". Considering that in NYC, the median HOUSEHOLD income is around $50, I'm totally good with the optics of the Democrats losing their shite over this.

By the way. Your friend? Dude earns $150K and is paying a mortgage of $43K per year plus taxes and insurance?

Um. Not for nothing. But is your friend mentally retarded?

I am sure all the Bernie Sanders SJW's have already starting writing sympathy cards for these homeowners. Good try Diane.

They still get the deduction, but it is capped. It's not like of you house is worth more than 750k, you cannot deduct any of the interest.

Watching the Dems in these coastal states fight this plan by lamenting that their rich constituents have to pay more taxes is hilarious.

That sounds like a lot, but $750k doesn't buy a hell of a lot in the bay area.

Yeah I have lived in a liberal enclave , so I understand this . That’s kind of the point though- Progs Not only create these enclaves but they also drive up housing costs for working class people . There were more housing permits granted in Houston and Dallas last year, than in all of California combined. Now, having theirs, they demand preferential tax treatment while demagoguing “ but my poors”.

frick em . I hope they choke on this.

I get that.

But bottom line.

I'm totally good with Democrats going to the American people with the "that evil Trump is making people in $750K homes pay more" rhetoric.

And, I'm totally good with Democrats trying to talk to the American people about how difficult it is to get by in their $750K homes.

That's a political look I hope they choose to wear all year.
