Societal pressures regarding homosexuality for years has caused many young people to fall into deep depressions and then commit suicide. I'm sure a lot of them wish they could take a pill to be more accepted in society.

They don't want non gay people to just "accept" them. Most of us have no problem with that.

Except that homosexuality is openly accepted and celebrated in society. Any depression or suicidal ideation is brought on by internal conflict, self loathing and the like.
