This would literally breath new life into the Democrat party, cost the Republicans the mid terms and probably the 28 Presidency. It would be the dumbest move they could possibly make, but I guess it is their own fault. By passing a clean CR they had nothing to give. They should have loaded the House CR with crap load of spending for right wing causes that they could have conceded for a clean CR. Art of the deal boys. Looks like they wanted to lose this fight.

That was my first thought that this was some sort of negotiation tactic.
Republicans allow the democrats to get their healthcare for illegals but they have to cut something else that they want, thus getting the democrats on record as choosing money for illegals instead of money for citizens/supporters.
Only problem with the plan is that the republicans are now also allowing for money for illegals.

It's not that simple. They want 200 billion to extend Obama care subsidies for people like DACA. It doesnt directly fund illegals.
But what will likely happen is that it will ease financial burdens on the states and they can reallocate funds to things like Emergency Medicaid which does cover illegals.

Could be a tactic where they know the Dems aren't going to accept the deal but it would leave no doubt when they deny it, who is responsible for the shutdown. They can't spin it as Republicans' shutdown, which they and their friends in the media have been trying their best to do.
