There are several reasons.
- it was "free"
- fear from the COVID hysteria and propaganda machine
- coercion by government and companies who threatened to fire their employees if they didn't comply
- doctors promoting and encouraging vaccination because they were getting paid
- a nauseating sense of moral and intellectual superiority, particularly by those on the left
