What's the basis for this assertion?

When the economy is tanking, banks are taking massive losses, ya know the best way to fix it? A really big war. Great depression was from 29-39. WW2? 39-45. You do the math.

Much of what is being stated/asserted is based on the notion that this was accidental.
I can't speak to the Russian's true intentions, but Milley stated that the move by Russia was intentional. Reuters
So I don't think we get to have it both ways. If it was intentional, then it wasn't wreckless. Taking down the drone was exactly what they wanted to do.
If it was wreckless and an incompetent Russian pilot, we can't accuse the Russians of attempting to escalate the conflict.

It was intentional in that they were trying to dump gas on it when they accidentally ran into it

Unsafe intercepts are always released to the media immediately.

Dredging up support for the war in Ukraine and billions in US taxpayer dollars being sent over.

I hope this isn't the case, but sure seems this way.
I didn't think we would blow up a major nation's gas pipeline, yet, here we are.
Elections have consequences. Stolen elections have catastrophic consequences.

I think you are over-analyzing it. Russia clearly wanted to frick with/disrupt the drone by dumping fuel on it and flying in front of it, and seemingly accidentally managed to get too close and hit it.
I don't think any part of it is really "escalatory".

Please look up the definition of reckless (wreckless is not a word).
Just because something is intentional does not mean it can't be reckless.

Let's bomb the cartels.
Only if it's simultaneously coordinated with surgical strikes on cartel compounds by SOCOM, targeted assassinations of cartel leaders by sniper teams, and a mass roundup and arrest of corrupt Mexican police/gov officials known to be owned by the cartels. Couple that with a strong showing of force, militarily, at the southern border and I'd be damn near to good.
If that happens, I'm down with a few good strafings.
But none of the above will happen. The fraudulent Obiden administration's SOP is to look at what makes the most logical sense, and then take action to do the exact opposite.

There is something really wrong with that man. Let's bomb the cartels. Let's bomb Russia. That is very dangerous rhetoric.
Also, I have to laugh at everyone wanting to bomb Mexico now seeing how Wray called Trump a crazy man for suggesting the idea 4+ years ago. Trump is playing 5D chess!

Allow me to say on behalf of the board that we appreciate your pedantic contribution to the discussion.
And, while the terms aren't exclusive it is not also the case that both are true.
Apparently, the Russians and it's pilot were so "wreckless" that they decided to give the guys awards.

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian fighter pilots involved in an incident with a U.S. drone that resulted in its crash will be given state awards, the Defense Ministry announced Friday. The move appears to signal Moscow’s intention to adopt a more aggressive stance toward future U.S. surveillance flights.
The U.S. military said it ditched the Air Force MQ-9 Reaper in the Black Sea on Tuesday after a pair of Russian fighter jets dumped fuel on the surveillance drone and then one of them struck its propeller while it was flying in international airspace. Moscow has denied that its warplanes hit the drone, alleging that it crashed while making a sharp maneuver. It said that its warplanes reacted to a violation of a no-flight zone Russia has established in the area near Crimea amid the fighting in Ukraine.
On Friday, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu lauded the pilots for preventing the drone from flying into the area that Moscow has banned for flights. The Defense Ministry said the ban was “in line with international norms.”
