So I don't think we get to have it both ways. If it was intentional, then it wasn't wreckless. Taking down the drone was exactly what they wanted to do.

If it was wreckless and an incompetent Russian pilot, we can't accuse the Russians of attempting to escalate the conflict.

Unsafe intercepts are always released to the media immediately.

I think you are over-analyzing it. Russia clearly wanted to frick with/disrupt the drone by dumping fuel on it and flying in front of it, and seemingly accidentally managed to get too close and hit it.

I don't think any part of it is really "escalatory".

Only if it's simultaneously coordinated with surgical strikes on cartel compounds by SOCOM, targeted assassinations of cartel leaders by sniper teams, and a mass roundup and arrest of corrupt Mexican police/gov officials known to be owned by the cartels.
