Two disturbing issues:

One, why on earth are we investing in fighter jets. Its akin to the brits before ww2 insisting on building battleships when the world was turning to aircraft carriers, Trump was right to start Space Force.

Second, the reason for such mammoth cost overruns, they make the parts in 80 different places so every congressman and bureaucrat can get a kickback and then try and bring it all together and piece it in place. So you take an already complex project and inject thousands of handoffs, many from foreign countries, and put the puzzle together, all because the McCains of the world gots to have me a fighter jet.

Third, yes Trump is the first to ask for an audit, but an external true audit will never be done. You realize the CIA evolved out of the military, you start getting anywhere close to their black hole, and well, we know what has happened in the past......

On September 10, 2001 Defense Secretary Don Rumsfield announced there to be 2.7 trillion dollars missing and unaccounted for in the Department of Defense budget. The very next day, on September 11, 2011, well, you know what happened.

The jet that came in 50 feet above the ground and hit the Pentagon destroyed the area where all of the financial records were kept.

I would think that a commitment to audit with legal repercussions for thieves would make a good plank in a party platform. I would think both parties could agree on this. Politicians opposing would be telling.
