HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania’s high court imposed a new congressional district map for the state’s 2018 elections on Monday, potentially giving Democrats a boost in their quest to capture control of the U.S. House unless Republicans can stop it in federal court.

The map of Pennsylvania’s 18 congressional districts is to be in effect for the May 15 primary and substantially overhauls a Republican-drawn congressional map widely viewed as among the nation’s most gerrymandered. The map was approved in a 4-3 decision, with four Democratic justices backing it and one Democratic justice siding with two Republicans against it.

The divided court appears to have drawn its own map with the help of a Stanford University law professor, although some district designs are similar to proposals submitted to the court by Democrats.

Most significantly, the new map gives Democrats a better shot at winning a couple more seats, particularly in Philadelphia’s heavily populated and moderate suburbs. There, Republicans have held seats in bizarrely contorted districts, including one labeled “Goofy Kicking Donald Duck.”

It was probably the GOPe republicans idea. They won't stop it unless someone alerts Trump and he sees that they do. The republicans could mess up a wet dream.

Judges are 5-2 democrats over republicans, shocking they ruled in favor of redrawing the lines and gave democrats an advantage. Good thing they are unbiased.

I'm as conservative as they get, but even I fricking hate gerrymandering. The redrawn map looks much more balanced than the one the GOP drew. I wish gerrymandering ended completely.

It would be nice to see the Donald being relegated to lame duck as a result of the midterm elections. More dems=less trump. A big win for the country.

Maybe a big win in fantasyland (where you and many of our resident progs reside), but more dems in Congress is never a "big win" for the country.

At least I don’t post crap complaining about how decisive our country is, then throw more garbage out there to divide people even more. You are true stooge. And a phoney stooge at that.

Yeah good thing that all of you guys are unbiased as well. I'm so glad to know that you can sort out fact from fiction in all of these gerrymandering cases

Get prepared for the dems to take the house. I don’t know much about the senate, the the house is turning blue.

On Tucker or some other show, a guy was talking about the census and how counting illegals may artificially boost representation in Congress.

Census Bureau is part of the Executive Branch. Trump needs to insure that doesn't happen.

Good luck with that when the Republicans passed a law in 2010 requiring the 2020 census to cost "no more" than the census in 2010. Normal humans have gone underground and are harder and harder to reach, so the census keeps getting more and more expensive: but this time they will just have to go for the low hanging fruit... immigrants
