The biggest threat of AI is that it could tell the public the truth.

Like a DOGE on steroids it could identify every corrupt official and follow every dollar.

The people would realize that it's about the money and how much each official has stolen.

There would then be a French style revolution and lots of blood in the streets.

The government might be destroyed and this is why it wants to regulate AI.

This statement almost seems logical to me. Man has progressed to the point where he thinks he is the creator.

There is only one Creator.

I read "AI" in the thread title as Al as in Al Gore. The capital I in this font looks like a lower case l. (I know I'm making this more confusing as I try to explain.)

Anyway, I thought he was saying that Al Gore had a 10% chance of destroying humanity, and then I thought to myself, he might not be wrong about that.

I need to get back to work. Estimating construction projects ain't nowhere near as confusing as this board can get sometimes. Back to the office cave...

Stephen Hawking practically said on his deathbed that AI will be the downfall of humanity.

I don’t think the tech that tries to guess the next words as I type this has any chance of destroying humanity.

You think that is the extent of what they're doing with AI?

Because it actively destroys us or we destroy ourselves due to lack of purpose because AI is doing all the meaningful work?

This hyperbole is stupid.

Humans will destroy humanity, long before AI does ... see Facebook, Twitter, influencers, Tiktok.

Idiocracy was a documentary ... change my mind.

/SW engineer who builds AI for a living...

Doesn’t everything have a 50/50 chance of destroying humanity?
