After Parler was banned by Apple and Google for failing to curb violent and threatening content on its platform, the social media site is now offline after Amazon terminated its web hosting services. The official Parler website now returns a 403 error, while its app is showing a networking error and can’t load content.

I don't think TD is hosted by Amazon AWS. Nonetheless, this has kickstarted a disturbing trend. Web hosts will start zapping websites that post content they don't like.

I hope all the idiots who voted the Socialists into office finally start to figure it out and reverse course. One group of over 500,000 people who left the Democratic (aka Communist) party had their FB page cancelled, unbelievable N0 more freedom of speech.in America. I never thought I would see this day.

Trust in Silicon Valley. If they've deleted an account, it means they were Nazis, and that judgment is not to be questioned.

Even if they weren't Nazis - like the newly banned Red Scare account - just assume they were otherwise bad. Tech oligarchs do not err.

What an idiotic thing to say. Within hours of Twitter's purge they had lost 2 billion dollars due to their plummeting stock price.

lol...

All leftists LOVE to use the capitalist model for themselves. But if they were actual "hardcore" capitalists, they'd also have to believe in a free market.

What is it about canceling everyone they don't agree with that screams free market to you? They don't care about OUR economy. They only care about lining their own pockets. And they are willing to alienate their consumers and lose money right now, simply because their survival depends on it. They must suppress the truth, or they will lose everything.

The problem with conservatives is that they love the idea of free markets because they assume that these will be benevolent to them. Free markets don't care about your feelings.

The part about the hundreds of lawsuits that are about to be forced down their throats.

I just said they are hardcore capitalists. What, did you think that meant getting a tramp stamp of Milton Friedman? OF COURSE they care about lining their own pockets. Elon Musk might be more your style politically, but he wouldn't walk 2 inches toward you to piss on you if you were on fire if it weren't going to get him a magazine cover.

LOL. They don't want to lose money. Big surprise. I'm sure economists are going to be shocked by this.

I bet you have no idea what you even meant by that. What, exactly, made you believe that my feelings had anything to do with the subject of free market? Do you know what that means? A free market means open competition. No monopolies, no heavy-handed, or uneven regulations from one company to another. Just a level playing field where the "best man" will win.

This isn't a conversation about which companies are better, and my "feelings" being hurt somehow by my favorites not winning. This is blatant, unconstitutional censorship. Do you understand that?

You are utterly incoherent. Lawsuits for what? Again, disagreeing with them? They are openly violating freedom of speech laws by labeling things they simply don't agree with as "hate speech" and canceling platforms and individuals without process, and with zero accountability. I'll ask again, and perhaps you'll think about the question this time: What is it about any of that that screams free market to you?

It's not difficult for me to sift through the pitiful attempts to paint everyone with money as a capitalist on your part. You see, what you forgot to mention about Elon Musk, and your assumption that he would not pee on me if I were on fire, is that he isn't going around trying to control what you are allowed to say, think, or do. I didn't say every capitalist had a heart of gold and would go out of their way to make sure everyone gets rich. You sure as heck won't get that from a socialist, either. But what every capitalist understands is that, fundamentally, in order for their own success to be sustainable, it is essential that the economy, as a whole, flourishes. And so while their tactics might be ruthless, they aren't canceling their competition. They simply work harder to outperform them.

That is not what we see on the left. They don't like you? They shut you up. That is tyranny.

... You can't read? This is what I said. Read carefully this time:

quote:

And they are willing to alienate their consumers and lose money right now, simply because their survival depends on it.

YOUR argument, which I responded to in that quote, was that they were following the money. My response was to show that that is in fact NOT what they are doing, because they are actually alienating their consumers. And they are doing so, as I said above, because their survival depends on it. You took that as "well, duh, they need money to survive. Big shock, genius."

It went right over your head, even though I spelled it out in the rest of my post that they are SUPPRESSING TRUTH because, if they don't, they lose everything. They are LOSING money right now, but they are taking the hit in order silence our voices. That, again, is tyranny.

quote:

Your conspiracy theories are cute and inconsequential.

It is neither a conspiracy nor a theory. They are canceling EVERYONE they don't agree with. NONE of the charges they've made on those they've canceled are true. If they think Trump supporters are supporting domestic terrorism, where was Facebook, Google, Twitter and Apple when BLM and antifa protestors were burning down buildings? They don't care about actual violence. They only care that the greasy, corrupt politicians they are in bed with are in power, because that is the only way they survive.

THAT is the truth. Your refusal to acknowledge it simply shows your lack of integrity.

Facebook is a social network. Twitter is also a social network. Each has a significant part of the market share.

Guess what that means about your whole monopoly schtick?

They are NOT monopolies.

You have NO right to use anyone else's shite. They grant you the privilege. You have confused being successful with being a monopoly.

You cry and complain about regulations without giving a single thought about whether you bitching actually has ANY merit. The only regulations that apply to social media actually HELP keep social media open by differentiating those platforms from traditional publishers.

Google has a near monopoly in search and ads. Not phones. And any company is free to create their own app store on the Android platform apart from Google, because the Android platform is free to use.

If you're going to try to argue with me, at least learn what the words mean first and try to learn SOMETHING about the subject matter. Your problem is you hear words that other people have used, you don't actually understand any of it, and then you try to argue with someone who has actually done business in the space. You are painfully ignorant.

Maybe you can pick up a basic effing 5th grade civics book, pay attention to it this time since you clearly failed in your last attempt, and then get back to me. There are ZERO constitutional issues with what ANY of those companies did, because companies are not the government, the first amendment is about GOVERNMENT censorship, and every single person and platform that was banned BROKE their service agreement. If every single one of them sued every single platform, they would owe the platforms money at the end of the lawsuits. I am not going to take responsibility for your legal illiteracy. Read a book.

No, for the dozens of people who were injured the other day and all of the civil and criminal suits stemming from that. It's clear that you've never run a company in your life, but lawyers don't work for free, and even discovery can get expensive.

Bro, if you don't think Elon Musk is sitting there with an army of lobbyists trying to have an effect on the laws that affect you, I don't know what to tell you. You don't become a billionaire simply by being intelligent or working hard. Musk has been working politicians since he was with PayPal. This isn't a secret.

And your thesis regarding capitalists is fundamentally bullshite. See: the entire effing business history of the twentieth century.

Twitter and facebook did not "cancel" their competition. Google and Apple are not competing with Parler.

Tyranny is not getting banned from a platform for breaking their terms of service. Shove a tampon in it and man up.

I was restating what you said, because you can't seem to follow your own thought processes.

That's exactly what they're doing, my dude. They have a responsibility to their shareholders to NOT lose a ton of money on lawsuits or ruin their reputations with advertisers for being havens for incel nazi cults. I didn't know I needed to spell out every freaking word to help you understand basic shite.

No, you didn't lay anything out, because your entire post was a pile of infantile gibberish.

Nobody is "suppressing truth." The people who were banned are part of the biggest misinformation campaigns on the planet. They are also a tiny effing fraction of overall users. It's not tyranny for a private business to decide who can use their service any more than it's tyranny for me to kick someone out of my yard because they decided to plan to attack someone in my driveway. When you decide to use a service, you agree to their terms of service.

Break their terms and you can GTFO. That's how social websites work.

No they aren't. There are HUNDREDS of conservative and kooktard media personalities on twitter RIGHT NOW, who are perfectly fine. They didn't break the TOS.

Yes, Trump supporters were supporting domestic terrorism. They tried to kidnap the freaking governor of Michigan BEFORE trying to take over the Capitol. It isn't my fault that your brain can't handle the fact that your people are doing this.

THAT is the truth. Your refusal to acknowledge it simply shows your lack of integrity.

Nah, the real simps are those who used Parler thinking it was secure when it's been hacked 4 times in the last year and again yesterday.

LINK

All that crap that they tried to delete at the last second to prove that they were good stewards to Apple and Google?

It's in that archive.
