It's funny that you know this, but you and CajunAngelle are pissing yourselves over why DeSantis hasn't announced he's running yet. Trump too, for that matter.

Not really. He will do more damage to himself by not running.

DeSantis is number one or number two in the polls without having 100% name recognition. When has a candidate in that position not run?

Sure, because that wouldn't be accurate.

That's also not comparable to what I said.

I love how Trump supporters call Ron a deep state establishment stooge but will enthusiastically back him in 2028

I don’t agree. The shine isn’t going to wear off. He and Trump are the only ones really carrying the America First torch and there isn’t a close third. He will continue to build his brand regardless if he runs or not.

Reagan lost 2 primaries before 1980.

If DeSantis runs and loses to Trump I don't think this hurts much if he wants another go at it.

Odds are people would regret going with Trump again after he gets crushed in the general

Are you saying that Trump's base is so childish and short-sighted that they wouldn't vote for a person in 2028 just because the person entered the primary in 2024?

Here is the deal...Rust Belt MAGA people usually do not vote. They will come out to the polls and vote if Trump is on the ticket.

If DeSantis wins the nomination they stay home and Biden or whoever the Dem nominee is walks into the WH again.

If Trump wins the nomination they vote. Now if Trump between now and the general can ballot harvest in the states where it is legal and challenge the Dems he has a chance.

And if he wins, in 4 years he can hand MAGA over to Ron and those voters will go to the polls at hopefully a sufficient enough rate.

That's just the way I see it potentially gaming out.

To my knowledge DeSantis has not said anything about the law either.

That, or apparently some of them are threatening to hold their breath and sit out 2028 if someone dares to challenge Trump in a primary. If you prefer Trump, that's fine. If you're willing to refuse to vote for a guy simply because he runs against him in a primary, cult is an accurate word.

Yes I was thinking of Reagan and how he lost the nomination to Ford in 1976. He was finished as governor in 1974.

IIRC on this board I've only seen a couple of people say they would not vote for Trump if he wins the nomination. The Trump supporters have said they would vote for DeSantis if he wins the nomination.

Are you trying to tell us that Trump supporters haven't been going after DeSantis, hoping that we won't challenge Trump. Or that there aren't Only Trumpers on this board?

I'm telling you exactly what I said:

Yes and you could also point to Nixon who lost Kennedy in 1960 (robbed I should say) and made a comeback in 68. After Nixon made the remark: "You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore"

Coming from someone who lost Alaska’s House seat to a Democrat. She needs to go away.

So they'll only vote if Trump tells them who to vote for? That's not a good look.

I have no idea how many Trump voters would stay home in 2024 if DeSantis won the primary. It's not terribly uncommon to see that sentiment here, but this isn't exactly a cross section.

OK.

Well, I'm telling you that you're wrong.

Or, more accurately, I'm giving you the opportunity to discover that you're wrong.
