The prosecution has documentary evidence and testimony from Cohen and AMI stating that they met to discuss ways that AMI could help Trump's campaign. In 2016 they executed that plan. That's as black and white as you get.

Testimony from 2 people facing indictment and/or prison who will say whatever it takes to get a reduced sentence and/or immunity. Additionally, there is documentary evidence of Trump stating this be done on the up and up, plus his attorneys would be able to call multiple former FEC higher-ups to indicate what was done isn't a campaign finance violation at all. This doesn't even begin to get into the issue of legal precedent with the John Edwards case.

Dude, Edward actually got campaign donors to pay off his lover to keep quiet and was found not guilty.
Additionally the FEC chairman has declared there are no campaign finance violations.
