Sounds like a certain Special Counsel I know of.
I won’t mention his name, but it sounds a lot like Schlobert Kruller.

They definitely do this is northeastern LA. I actually knew a girl the cops paid to do it. Scum.

Seems like they need to start with the Indian ( like dot on the head not the Elizabeth warren kind) owned stores first. You know the ones who accept EBT for alcohol and gas. I never got carded after 15 in one of these stores and my high school aged brother told me recently that they go to these stores now for their alcohol.

This reminds me of the sting operations in restaurants. Pay some 20 year old that looks 25 to go in and order a drink in an extremely busy restaurant. Then when the busy server neglects to card them they get fined and lose their job.
I fail to see the positive side of such sting operations.

Why don't they put Kate Upton on a corner soliciting and see if they can lure "johns"; or have Matt McConaughey solicit lonely middle aged women at a bar?
Lots of crime to be created out there.
SMH.

Pure entrapment, seems like a waste of resources

This discussion is the positive. it alerts those that may commit this crime to not commit the crime. It is not about catching, it about stopping

It’s not the state’s place to create cautionary tales. There are plenty of those out there now.

The people that committed the crime wouldn't have done so of state paid actors didn't encourage them to do so

This grant-funded operation is designed to reduce underage consumption of, and access to, alcohol by deterring adults from furnishing alcohol to teens outside of licensed premises.
And just how many teens did they stop from drinking with this waste of our tax dollars.

You sound like a raging liberal in this thread.

Not to mention they could just announced that they're conducting these stings without ever actually doing it and have the same deterring effect without wasting resources.

You would think 100% of adults would say "No"... but four adults in separate incidents took money from the teens and purchased alcohol for them.
Uh, no...you wouldn't remotely think that.
Did this cop ever go to High School?
What a pathetic and lame arse sting operation. Tax dollars at work. Keeping the streets safe from teens and beer.

Exactly.
Albuquerque has a car theft problem.
They started putting these up in parking lots:
Are there actual bait cars in the area?
I have no idea.

They usually flip some kid that got busted for MIP. The production they go through for this is completely ridiculous. They do it so they can self fund their operations through fines. Much like most local PDs

If there are reports of rampant underrage serving of alcohol at an establishment (which is what these laws are intended to prevent) it seems like it would be fairly easy to police without the need for a sting op.

I mean it's Cali. you'd think they'd catch some pervs like that.

I have a buddy who started a business in Atlanta to train bars and restaurants to be "responsible"
Part of the deal is he sends minors into places to audit the staff and see if they get served
He typically sends a guy that is obviously of age in with an 18 or 20 year old chick
The bars save more on insurance than they pay him & he provides legal counsel when and if they get nabbed in a real sting (which the cops do run sometimes)

It's all about making money to fund their organization under the guise of public safety
