As of now, Trump still controls the ability to set rules for the GOP convention because he was the previous nominee.

Republicans will never win again if we don’t nominate someone younger, someone who appeals to both young and old alike. Personally, I’d like to see an African American male candidate. I know there are several names out there who I could support, and others that I’m not aware of now. As long as the Dems have a black candidate or running mate, it’s over for us. We must get more of the minority vote.

We can be as principled as we want, but we won’t ever have the White House. And actually, it’s not giving up your principles to say we need a person of color. I’m not saying let’s nominate Leo Terrell (who, by the way, has been the biggest surprise of 2020 lol). But if there are 2 candidates of equal ability, one being white and one being black, I say go with the black candidate. I mean, if winning is important.

I want a conservative Republican. Someone who wants to lower our taxes, protect our borders, protect the unborn and children, supports the military and law enforcement. If that person is an African American, I think that gives us a better chance at winning. I don’t see it as pandering, but more like facing facts.
