Good Day, Sir.
Have a Blessed Sunday.
This concludes our conversation on this topic.
Thank you.

God's plan is bigger than our plan. When we pray for an outcome, we have to remember that sometimes just the strength to continue IS the answer to our prayer.
I know it's not what you want to hear, but you need to be prepared to accept that not every outcome is going to be what you want.

"I can't answer your question without looking like an idiot so I'm going to dip."
Probably for the best, have a nice Sunday as well.

So why would our prayers change outcomes at all? God's got a plan, and he's going to stick to it, right?

Re religion on a political forum, the ideological basis for our Constitutional Republic political system is that of “God-given, inalienable Rights “. It is not incongruous to have debate around such a central political belief and system. People can state their case with no expectation of either respect for or agreement of said beliefs. That is the point of the very important First Amendment. Honestly, for those who get antsy when challenged, that is more a reflection of their own lack of faith than a surety of it. I think the Mods do a good job of finessing the line. If one finds religious debate as it directly relates to politics disconcerting, then don’t go in the Thread. Problem solved.

Just because you don't like the outcome you were given, doesn't mean that your prayer was wasted.

But you do believe that some prayers can change outcomes, right?

I think God works through people and their hearts. The changes to the world are not manifested like magic, but through effort, understanding, and attitude.

Gotcha, so no miracles from prayers, like an impossible reversal of some illness?

Absolutely not. I could almost guarantee that He has shown you or done things in your life to show you His grace and mercy towards you. Think about this scripture, “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. How much more do you want Him to do besides giving His Son that you might have life for eternity?
And believe me, I want to believe this, but I keep wondering if those things were coincidences.

Ricardo, do you believe God still heals the sick? I'm genuinely asking. As someone who was raised in the church for years, I'm sure we can both agree that we were taught He does

I think it's important to remember that how we interpret the world is as important as the events that unfold.
I believe miracles are possible, but they are rarely tailored to our specific demands. You can say, "What's the point of praying then"? It's about having a conversation with God. God's answers to our prayers can take many forms. We need to keep our hearts open to His will. Try not to become jaded and doubtful. It may serve you for now, but it won't make you a better person in the long run.
Instead, try to be optimistic and faithful. I know it's hard to see the good in the bad, but that's why it's the path less traveled.

Let’s be as pragmatic as we can about it. Living your life by the tenants of Christianity gives you a good anchor in life, a way to act, something to believe in, something to look forward to. It’s a great way to live and if we are wrong and there isn’t anything after this then we will never ever know. Seems like a solid hedge
It’s all rainbows and unicorns until the church burns your ancestors at the stake for being “witches”.

Nothing is a coincidence. This is scripture “The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I come that you may have life and that more abundantly”. Choose you this day whom you will serve. Which one of these sound appealing to you?

So you left the faith, and its "nice" for a child to get a "free ticket" to Heaven. And the majority of the people have to be saved to get to heaven.
Are you making this shite up? I can tell you left the faith, cause you have none. And without "total" faith in Jesus Christ, your ticket to heaven is temporarily denied. I can promise you, your ticket will not be free.
