And no respectable US citizen should object to confirming his citizenship ESPECIALLY if he is unlucky enough to be one of the 'groups' that is causing all the havoc in the USA.

What do you carry on a daily basis that "confirms your citizenship?"

Just one point of clarification (for the X post).

Citizens are not required to carry "immigration documents".

Yes... of course... the founders are rolling over in their graves because people checked their IDs and verified their citizenship.

IDs aren't enough to verify citizenship, which is the point of this thread. Why do you love illegal immigrants and want them to invade our country?

The point is, moron, that if a citizen can get it that quickly, do you not think LEO can access the info straight from their cruiser? Every LEO has a laptop in their vehicle.

Another thing this tells me is that the "Real ID" that we have been forced to have added to our driver licenses in all the states is worthless and has done nothing more than provide the government another venue to waste money on yet another mindless mandate.

You can thank the Cheney/W. Bush admin for that one. The concept and mandate for Real ID was first introduced after 9/11.

If you think presenting ID is violating your "essential liberty," then surely you must be against metal detectors at stadiums and having cops at all.

The next time you get pulled over, please try to tell him that you refuse to show ID because it violates your freedom.

If you support cops arresting drivers who are drunk or speeding excessively, then you are giving up the freedom to drive drunk and speed.

It's a great platitude you quoted, but if you are not willing to give up some freedom for security, then you are just an idiot who supports anarchy.

Showing ID is not a violation of your rights. You're just being a drama queen.

There's this cool thing called computers and WiFi, where LEO has access to tons of documents, no matter where they are. I even heard you can carry a computer in the palm of your hand.

Ok, so you don't carry anything, meaning that you are subject to arrest.

The stories that are coming out are that sometimes it take a day or two for ICE to confirm your citizenship because the people they pick up aren't carrying proof of citizenship at the time of arrest.

So from your comments, you are fine with being arrested and detained for a day or two without access to anyone on the outside until ICE can verify that you are a citizen. And you are ok with that happening to your family, wife, kids, parents, everyone.

I'm not ok with this new Republican utopia.

ID doesn't confirm citizenship. Sounds like you need a few hours in a holding cell if you can't prove you're a citizen, Jose.

I'd think so. To get a Texas DL, you have to present proof of US citizenship which for me included a birth certificate, a passport and a social security number/card. I moved out for three years to Oklahoma and came back. I thought they were particularly rigorous as I had to get a new copy of my SS card, and a Kentucky birth certificate. From then on I had confidence in the Texas DL as a means of identification.

Gosh you seem angry little cocksucker.

Actually I also carry my retired military ID
Also my DOW Contractor CAC Card.

Meh that's about it, if they want to run me in and look up my birth certificate in Yankton South Dakota IDGAF.

I have seen one that was detained for 24 hours but that was the most I read.

Again, if there were reasonable suspicion, like being a Hispanic on a job site full of other Hispanics, I would understand. Not saying I would be happy about it at all, but I would fully understand why it happened.

The issue you fail to admit is that this wouldn't even be an issue had your party not literally opened the floodgates.

I think it was when the Department of Homeland Security was created that my eyes were fully opened to the fact that Bush and the Republican party as a whole, were right wing and not actual Constitutional conservatives.

When I consider all the times the words "homeland" and "security" appear as part of the name of any government department or agency I find that it is in very authoritarian regimes and governments that these agencies are found. In recent, living memory - Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union quickly come to mind.

I am not sure there is an actual requirement for anyone. But I would think any non-visa tourist, a visa holder, perhaps even a green card holder would all be advised to carry proof of their status.
