I get why they did it. GTFO with your confederacy bullshite. The rebels lost. Get over it. A group of black kids bringing in money for the university playing basketball shouldn't put up with that crap on campus.

Kneel when a foreign anthem is playing in their country...
Try it in Serbia, watch what happens

There was some pretty palpable tension between Kennedy and his players at the end of last season. Makes me wonder if part of the falling out was his putting his foot down to some antics like this. It's really not like Ole Miss to just up and out of the blue fire a coach who reliably gets them to the NIT.

Those 6 should have been suspended on the spot and if not the coach fired. Unacceptable behavior.

Ehh shows how little you know. AK had been on Ole Miss fans hot seat for years. It was a love and hate relationship. And he always did just enough to keep his job. Then going 12-20 last year sealed the deal.
Thing that frustrating to me is this is a line from Kermit in what I think was his opening press conference
"We're going to be a team that respects the flag and the national anthem."
I think (and hope) it was a one and done issue. I think the frickers coming into town waving confederate flags and blaring Dixie over the load speakers led to the players wanting to do something. And they poorly chose to kneel cause they felt that’s there only chance to do state how they feel.
Stupid situation that some of my liberal friends blew my phone up with.

Not very surprising. Liberals tend to spend a lot of time on their knees.

Look it was a march from the memeoroal in the circle to the square in Oxford. Oxford and the University has their hands tied. 1 player kneeled and a few other players kneeled with them. It was using the 1 st amendment to fight the 1 st amendment using hate and racism on campus. It was a 1 time deal to make a specific peaceful statement. It wasn’t and isn’t a big deal. frick the KKK and frick the idea that cops are killing blacks on purpose. This was about the KKK on campus and that’s it.
Checked all the boxes in one post. Impressive.

How many times must this be explained for you to get it...it is not a 1A issue for the school/team to keep this from happening. 1A would apply to the government punishing the athletes. The school can stop them or sanction them as representatives of their school or the conference or NCAA can step in and none of it has to do with the 1A. The platform given these athletes also grants those who give the platform say in the behavior displayed. Do you not understand this? It is rather simple unless you have a simple mind.

Two different things and two different expected and accepted displays of showing reverence. You seem to have a problem with conflating issues quite often.

Does it make me a liberal or cucked because I don't find anything wrong with what the players did? I understand their reasons. I think it's stupid, but I understand what they think they were doing.

Yeah but they were still exercising their 1A rights.
