No one knows what is going on, and no one should. Do any of you honestly think there’s only one group of people trying to gain control of Iran?
One thing is obvious, this is not a cut and dry situation, period.
You people have the need for instant gratification because you have the mind of a child, you’re all adult male “gamers” and you know I’m right.
How embarrassing, grow the frick up.

I really hate to say this because I like the President but he has lost the plot on this war. He had the initiative and wadded it up and threw it away.
At this point Trump has 3 ways out of this.
1. Cut a deal a lot less than what he has been asking for and come home.
2. Just withdraw. No deal. No Uranium.
3. Resume the war.
Trump knows he needs something to show for all this. So I don’t think he picks option 2. Besides if he just up and left Iran in charge of the Strait they will start charging tolls immediately. It would keep prices artificially raised on everything. Russia and China would soon follow raising prices even more. Trump is smart enough to know he will get blamed for all of that.
I don’t think he ever restarts the war. We just had 5 people injured yesterday or the day before because Iran violated the ceasefire. They have violated it a bunch. They shot at the only nuclear reactor in the Middle East a couple weeks ago. If he is gonna let Iran get away with those things then he isn’t looking to fight anymore.
No I fear we are about to see a deal cut allowing Iran to fund proxies to start. Iran will eventually agree to let Russia or China take possession of the uranium. They won’t let us dig it out but will allow China to do it. They will keep finding ways to drag it out and Trump will leave office and Iran will never have to give up possession of the uranium. I’m afraid that is what we are about to see. Outside of Marco I can’t see any politician on either side willing to take military action in the future to make Iran honor that deal. I certainly hope I’m wrong but I’m getting a bad vibe that all this was for nothing.

It's the same dynamic in play as when we fought those crazy Asian wars in the second half of the last century; Trump was either too stupid to learn from an open book of historical errors or too egocentrical to believe his actions alone would bring about regime change in Iran. Probably a combination of both factors. Whatever, now that Russia and Communist China are benefactors to the Iranian theocracy, the Trump experiment is an abject failure. He's awkwardly trying to save face by badmouthing Netanyahu.

After we’ve bombed everything to oblivion, who’s gonna do the clean up? Guess what, it won’t be Iran or Israel. And radicalizing more Muslims in the region is probably also not a good idea. Think this through a bit more.

Exactly. Have to break the IRGC so hard they quit. Right now we're playing with our food. We need to be a lion and go for the throat.
The IRGC is intentionally segmented into something like 33 completely independent militaries
To fully defeat the IRGC you'd have to take out most of them or perhaps all of them. That's a lot of munition stockpiles to burn through.

Iran will be a problem for another 2 generations because of this stupid war.
Its like their 9/11, pearl harbor, and jfk assassination all wrapped up into one.
It was foolish from the start bc all the IRGC had to do was survive.

Correct. And what it would take to get them to surrender would completely deplete our munitions stockpile where we would be ill equipped to fight a war that might make more sense to fight.

What is the point of military action if it doesn't produce the political outcomes that it was intended to produce
Military successes that don't achieve political outcomes are not wise.

We've already effectively destroyed their navy and air force
Then how are they controlling the Strait?

Speed boats, missiles, mines.
They don't need a navy or air force to control the straight. They just need enough offensive capacity to deter ships from traversing the ship. And of course maritime insurance goes into the equation as well.

How much of a MSNBC watching retard can you be?
Do you not understand what the blockade is doing to their economy? Do you not understand what the blockade is doing to China? Get a clue numb nuts.

Chinese vessels are sailing through the strait with impunity because Iran allows it and we aren't about to fire on a Chinese flagged vessel.
But let's just say you're right. How does hurting the Iranian and Chinese economies help the United States. I'll give you a hint: it doesn't. At all. The idea that hurting someone else automatically helps you is one of the dumbest thoughts imaginable.

This is part of the problem. I think Trump thinks like you do. The IRGC and the people in charge do not care how much damage economic damage is being done to the economy because of the blockade. They will eat before anyone else will and at the end of the day they still have the guns. The people can starve for all they care. They probably look at it as a plus. The less food the people have access too then it keeps them weak and in check. They will use the lack of everything but especially food as another form of control. They place value on the survival of the regime right now. That’s all that matters to them.
