We have 2 ICU units. When I clocked out Friday, only a couple beds on each floor left. They cancelled all non emergent surgeries & procedures. No visitors allowed at all, except for children ( parents only) & pts near end of life. Only pt allowed in ER unless they are a minor.

They have reserved 1 floor for COVID19 patients. Not sure if any ICU pts were COVID, but one pulmonologist said we would have more, he sent several for testing.

Do you understand that if a doctor prescribes the med a pharmacist does not have the authority to override it? If there is a potential conflict then said pharmacist calls the Docs office for clarification. He or she doesn't have the authority to override a doctor's script.

That is terribly wrong.

If there is something fishy, I call the doc and verify. However if my gut still feels wrong, I ask the patient to fill somewhere else. It’s my license, not the doctors. I can refuse anything

Do you also record all conversations and solve murders on your own?

my wife is a pharmacist, she had two doctors call in the last two days trying to write Chloroquine as a prophylactic for themselves and family members... my wife said "not happening" I asked her, do you have the authority to tell a doctor no? She said the word is out already, "do no dispense unless it's for treatment" I asked her what if he needs it stay healthy so he can help sick people? we need the front line healthy I am always playing devils advocate

We were given the same information Friday. My wife is also a pharmacist and shut down 2 call ins by docs trying to prescribe it to family members. She said no, they were cool about it, but you can call 50 more places and probably get some tool that fills it.
