I can't think of a president (besides nixon) who didn't became popular post presidency. It's sort of a formal thing to do out of respect as an american- like your ex presidents.

I don't think Carter was "evil" in office. Inept and in over his head, sure. But evil? That's a pretty liberal use of the word there.

I like Bush more in his first term than his second. He's still very likable but I think his response to 9/11 was his high point, which is unfortunate since it was less than a year from his inauguration.

My oldest brother gets told he looks like W pretty often now that he's in his mid 50's. I don't mean this in a gross way but I think my brother is better looking. 5 years after they left office, I would have happily had a beer with every President since Carter.
