Two of the measures mutually agreed upon between the parties have yet to be implemented: a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s blocked assets prior to the commencement of negotiations.

Since these were never agreed upon and they are playing games, and I am guessing will not go well should they remain in Iran. I am confused because I thought there was a photo of Pakistan escorting the Iranian plane into Islamabad the other day?

IMO President Trump and VP Vance don’t believe the negotiations with Iran in Islamabad will be productive relative to securing concrete concessions. I think it’s an exercise to inflame tensions between the various factions in the regime vying for power. If we can pit them against each other and get them to destroy each other, then that’s a big win.

I automatically discount any posts from X that say "Iran says...". There is no one voice speaking for Iran.

If the Iranians aren't going to show up, why would Vance land in Pakistan? Unnecessary risk, IMO. Just refuel and come home.

Pope Urban II would like to have a word with him....

I'm Catholic and while I'm generally a fan of our current Pontiff, he is wrong on this issue. It is possible to wage a just war, especially if it is on the grounds of defeating evil and protecting innocents.

I can see where he is coming and going with his opinion. Unfortunately, if good men do nothing, evil will prevail.

Look what happened to the Syrian Christian and Lebanese Christian communities when no one stood up. The Mohammedans took over. They did the same in Iran and will continue to spill the blood and treasure of whomever they wish if no one stands up to them.

He is basically spewing false doctrine because of his personal opinions. He should really say nothing if he feels compelled to be dishonest like this.

He is trying to say this should be resolved through peaceful means, dialogue, diplomacy, etc... However if you go that route, you will never get anywhere with a radical, Islamist Regime like the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IRGC. While an admirable position to take, it's one that will lead to nowhere with this group. I think all reasonable people would prefer if no one fought, but that it is not reality.

Lebanese political figures opposed to Hezbollah are calling on the Beirut government to open peace negotiations with Israel, according to the Lebanese newspaper Nidaa al-Watan.

The officials called for a small negotiating delegation free from sectarian constraints, a unilateral ceasefire declaration to Hezbollah with a short timeline for disarmament, and outreach to Arab states and the Vatican to build diplomatic support.

A Lebanese official told the paper the government is the only body authorized to negotiate with Israel and said Lebanon should "copy the Pakistani model", demand a limited ceasefire and begin talks immediately after it takes effect.

The paper also reports that negotiations between U.S., Israeli, and Lebanese ambassadors will begin Tuesday in Washington, with follow-up talks expected in Cyprus.
