How did he and the other pilot get separated? Is ejection like that too hectic to parachute into the same location?
From what I understand, part of their training dictates that they separate when having to eject over enemy territory. It improves their odds of escaping, whereas together they could both be captured at the same time. Additionally if they are spread apart that means enemy search teams would also have to spread themselves thinner as well to conduct a search.

Maj. Gen. William Green Jr., head of the Army's chaplain corps
quote:
So SecWar Pete Hegseth just fired Maj. Gen. William Green Jr., the US Army’s (now former) Chief of Chaplains.
I have zero insider information on this, but I have my own theories as to why it happened.
Green’s most important event as the Chief of Chaplains was to produce the United States Army’s “Spiritual Fitness Guide.”
Published in July of 2025, Stars & Stripes wrote an article on this with a link to the guide.
(I’ll put all related links in a comment email one below.)
I’ll save you the trouble of clicking on that link — it goes to the US Army’s website, and it’s “404 Page Not Found.”
That kind of explains a lot, doesn’t it?
So I went and found a full copy of that “Guide” elsewhere (in, of all places, a “Military Atheist” website; link in the post below).
Go check it out. Do a word search for the word “God.” Go ahead. Do it. It shows up exactly ONCE. How can you have a guide to spiritual fitness without mentioning God?????
But what that “guide" DOES TALK about is a bunch on New Age gobbledygook.
Let me give you a taste:
"The Soldier’s Spirit lies at the intersection of external influences (stimulus) and applied behavior (response). It is the vital junction that supports the weight of life and drives Soldier action. In a relatable way, the Soldier’s spirit is much like a compass in life, providing substance to the direction that they take in life and the decisions they make. This reality makes understanding and developing the Soldier's spirit crucial, as the direction of a Soldier ultimately shapes the direction and well-being of the Army.”
The primary mission of the Chaplain Corps is to “provide religious support” to soldiers (from their official mission statement).
Yet the US Army’s “Spiritual Fitness Guide” reads like it was written by John Lennon and Yoko Ono on a bender—not a word of encouragement for a soldier’s faith, but pages upon pages of New Age nonsense that makes Universalism sound like rational thought and really does imagine no religion.
Yeah, one does not need to understand why a man of faith like Pete Hegseth fired a wishy washy New Age Pharisee like Green.

This is what the downed pilot / WSO is likely armed with on the ground in Iran; the GAU-5A.
It's a mission specific takedown AR15 variant with a 12.5'' 5.56 barrel, MLOK rail with QD lever, MBUS Pro sights, folding grip, and 4x 30 round magazines that are stored under the ejection seat.
It's certainly a much better option than the USAF's old "survival" rifle...

Summary of how this war is going:
Trump says he’s gonna do something if the terrorist Iranian regime doesn’t surrender.
The Iranian regime doesn’t.
Trump does the thing.
Everyone with TDS acts shocked and gets mad Trump did the thing.
Everyone without TDS goes “they probably should have listened to him.”
The end.

I'm not real sure these updates that Trump has worked "all day" are the dunk those folks think they are.
I mean, I guess it's a sacrifice on his part he isn't in Florida playing golf, but the president oughta work "all day" most days, war or no.

We own the night. If we don’t pull that WSO tonight (it’s almost morning there) then that cannot be great. I guess he could have fallen into a valley that they don’t think they can get choppers into safely to get to him and don’t want to risk an Afghanistan like event where we lose and entire SF team.
It’s just not great that we have not heard anything by now.

Not real sure it’s an update that he’s worked all day so much as it’s an update that he’s called a lid while still working that appears to allow focus on what’s happening in Iran

BREAKING: The F-15E Strike Eagle shot down over Iran was from RAF Lakenheath, UK, assigned to the 494th Fighter Squadron
The F-15E is a two-seat multirole fighter carrying 23,000 pounds of bombs at 1,875 mph.
A pilot up front, a weapons systems officer in the back.
It's been the workhorse of this war since day one.
The jet costs $31 million in 1998 dollars, closer to $100 million for newer models.
It entered service in the late 1980s and is still one of the most capable strike aircraft on earth, flown by the U.S., Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Singapore.
One crew member is safe.
The other is missing somewhere in southern Iran.

NewsNation’s Leland Vittert opened his show with one of the most powerful patriotic messages of the year.
@LelandVittert declared that the daring rescue mission for the downed U.S. pilot in Iran is:
“America at its very best.”
VITTERT: “I’m going to tell you something that you won’t hear anywhere else on television tonight.”
“THIS is America at its very best.”
“Air crews go into battle, deep over enemy territory, knowing that if they shot down the ENTIRE U.S. military will stop at nothing to rescue them.”
“Iranian state TV has been showing this video all day, purportedly showing rescue teams here, one of the helicopters taking fire from Iranian police trying to shoot with rifles.”
“So hundreds of men and women right now are knowingly putting themselves in extreme danger, there are continued low-level flights over unknown enemy air defenses to bring back a single downed comrade.”

Do people just ask random bullshite and not Google first? When 2 pilot eject they are in individual seats in the air going fast, chairs don’t eject simultaneously either.
